I can't say to much, but it won't be DTGs WIP preview then get the loco 4-5months later at any rate. Can't say much else or Pete might tie me to the front buffer of the loco and send me up Maerdy another 10 times

Well, pretty disappointed with the non-working Pre-order (PayPal, not SSS)
Doesn't accept that my card has a valid expiry date, and also forcing me to create a PayPal account

I fell in love with steam recently and I'm considering pre-ordering this beauty as well.
However, as I'm just starting with steam, I do not have too many steam routes. Can someone tell me where I could utilise the 4200/5205, where it could feel at home? Could it be Maerdy (the first release) which I have? Any other?
And additionally - the loco seems to be pretty advanced in terms of features. Can we expect a reasonable manual from SSS that'll describe how to properly drive this thing?
Thank you very much!

Glad you're getting into steam You won't regret it!! Especially if you lean towards Victory Works and Just Trains releases, as they're the closest to the real thing, but still come with Simple Mode options.
Maerdy is the PERFECT route for the 4200/5205. The pack will come with two scenarios for the J94 Memories of Maerdy route. As for a manual, this has been prepared by Victory Works, so, is very detailed! As others will no doubt vouch for, Victory Works manuals are among the best out there, with everything you need to know.
Kind Regards
Matt

Another very well made ex-GWR route:
GWR/LNER (GW & GC) Joint Line 2.0 (High Wycombe-Bicester/Princes Risborough-Oxford) (freeware 2015 Peter Goodearl/SSS)
http://www.steamsoundssupreme.com/page_fwrp01.html (Extension to Banbury in preparation). Payware requirements: DTG/RSC: Falmouth, West Somerset, Woodhead, Isle of Wight, West Somerset (
http://store.steampowered.com/. In the late fifties/early sixties Oxford had a few 72xx.
Mike already mentioned another wonderful ex-GWR route:
GWR Glorious Devon Exeter to Plymouth - 1958 (freeware 2016 Team GD60:Tristan Peat (TwoCats), Mike Traves (Meonia)/DP)
http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/routes.html . Payware requirements: DTG/RSC: Riviera Line, Riviera in the 1950s, Falmouth, West Somerset, Woodhead, Bristol to Exeter, Isle of Wight

Thanks, Marcus! The first one could be an option for me, however I haven't pre-ordered the 7200 yet, want to first try the first pack and then I'll buy the expansion if I like it. The second route has several requirements that I don't meet at this time.

Is the release date known I wonder? I guess it would be too bold to expect it to be released today or early next week?

For those interested in exactly where the 4200/5205's were based,I've found the BR Database site to be an invaluable asset:
http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?acti ... &id=128051 4200 Class
http://brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?acti ... &id=128052 5205 Class
If you click "Alloc" it will give you all allocations of each loco.
If you click "Snap" you can get a "Snapshot" of where each loco was based at any one time, this can also be done for depots and other classes.
I've found it very accurate for other searches, even down to works visits that I verified locally using my dad's noted sightings on well known "test workings" past his house in the 60's.
Basically The Maerdy line and China Clay for Export are probably the most authentic as many depot's in that area of Wales had them and St Blazey had a number also.
Cheers,
Mark

Yes, this is a very useful site that answers many questions. And if you're curious where they went:
http://shedbashuk.blogspot.nl/
I would add Oxford on 'The Wycombe & Joint Line' as I think Worcester had a few 52xx in the early sixties that sometimes wandered down to Oxford on a local freight. Oxford also had two 72xx's between 1953-1962...
