Hmm, there is already a 189 on steam and do I really want to take a punt on 3DZugs version over a Vr one? :-?

Yes, there's the one on Steam as a single loco, and then there's also the Aeorosoft version available with the Mosel Valley route.

There's going to be rather a crowd of them if vR is indeed making one, just like there's quite a crowd of BR143's and BR232's!

3Dzug are still looking for a partner for their BR189, so I would expect the VR one to be much further along, especially if they are publishing WIP pics. The VR one will be EL and is the first of the modern E-loks they intend to make. All of the currently available models have their limitations, so for a realistic drive the VR one will be my choice. Whether 3Dzug choose to continue or not is another matter, and until they actually produce a lok it is difficult to assess how it will compare with the VR one. Realistically there are only a very few potential partners for the scripting. It is unfortunate, but VR had already intimated that this lok and others would be coming.

Yeah, Vr is a no brainer really as far as I'm concerned too.

Next to VR and 3DZug, GBE have now also announced a BR 189. God knows why...

Could be that GBE and 3Dzug are working together as both companies have the same origin. However their standards are very far apart, so I would have thought it unlikely, but you never know. Whilst 3dzug might be competition for VR with the right partner, I seriously doubt GBE would be. Competition is more likely to kill of further releases as the German market is even more of a niche market than the British/American one. More likely it is an attempt at a spoiler and if you look at the GBE 110 you will see why GBE are no real competition. A very long way from the EL standard.

Check out the thread on Railsim Holzroller. The possibility of 3DZug and GBE working together has allreay been excluded. Clearly different models. I also may add that the GBE 189 is going to be freeware. What makes the whole thing even more obscure.
