multiple number/letter indicater signals?
Hi everyone does anybody know if there is an add on that has ground signals either ukpro or just trains that will show multiple numbers/letters on? Now I've bought the western mainlines route I have the double theatre screens but can't seem to find the small indicator screens that allow multiple numbers/letters on as I need these for the freight yard I've built up (Bescot) certain ground signals show double and others show triple letters on their screens. Does anybody know which add ons have these multiple number/letter screens (double and triple) on the ground and normal signals?
Cheers, Ian.

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
Do you mean something like this?

That's a Thomson asset, from Edinburgh-Glasgow-- ..\Assets\Thomson\EandG\RailNetwork\Signals\Pro Signals\Pro Signal Posts\Pro Ground Signal M2 L1Th E2.bin
If you're trying to get a number 11 to show then typing in two 1s won't work unless the asset recognises 11 as a valid texture name--it can't put 2 textures in the same place, so to display 11 you may need to have the number textures 0-9, with 10 being a, 11 being b, 12 being c....and so on. This is how that signal in the image would seem to be set up (I haven't delved any deeper)
I don't have Western Mail Line so can't look at those signals for you I'm afraid.

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
Basically yeah I have some signals on my map that show 3 letter one with XUF on so are there any of those around? The stencil indicator signals only seem to allow one character I need them to show more for the bescot area as they show double and triple letters.

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
I don't know of any that allow you to input something like "XUF" and display three distinct textures, so a single texture to display the whole sequence would be needed. Which signals are you using?--that'd make it easier for us to examine the .bin files and see what 'slots' are available (if any) and just how they work.
EDIT:..Doh!!!...you said Western Lines

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
If the route uses the JT Modern Signals, and if it doesn't use them from the Common Library folder this will probably still hold true, 2 letters are supported as supplied:

is produced by using / in the input box for the displayed character(s)
The full list of which letters/numbers/symbols are available (as supplied) might be in a manual somewhere, but you can work them out by looking at ..\Assets\JustTrains\CommonLibrary\RailNetwork\Signals\Characters\LED_Characters\DoubleTheatre.bin with RW Tools.
It wouldn't be too hard a job to produce a custom variant of a signal to use a bespoke set of characters, there's nothing *special* about the textures themselves--other than looking like a white block at first glance, as the letters/numbers are produced by the alpha channel.

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
Ok thanks for the advice and info I'll give this a try. For you question previously I was using ukpro ground signal M2 and others around bescot as its a huge freight yard.

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
That's presumably the name displayed in the available assets box when in the editor, so doesn't tell us just which signal it is--the UK Pro signals are present (or some of them are) in many routes from DTG and partners in order to make such routes 'self contained'.class1987 wrote: I was using ukpro ground signal M2
If you drop into the editor and double click the signal the path and file name will be shown---this information would make tracking down just which file we're dealing with.
Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
Oh I see what you mean now here is the file name, railnetwork-signals-pro signals-posts-ground signal M2.xml
Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
which just trains route add on you got that has the 2 character stencil indicator that you are showing me on the picture?

Newcastle - Edinburgh, though the modern signals are also available with Marsdonshire and (I believe) used in Western Lines.
Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
Ok then, I might get that add on myself it looks quite good. By the way I have sent you the signal file name for you on a previous post. What do I need to do now?

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
The closest I have to that path and file name is:class1987 wrote:the file name, railnetwork-signals-pro signals-posts-ground signal M2.xml
..\Assets\RSC\LiverpoolManchester\RailNetwork\Signals\Pro Signals\Pro Signal Posts\Ground Signal M2.bin, but I've possibly identical versions in GARL, Edinburgh-Glasgow, UKLEDsignals.... it's never easy!!
I'll assume you're using the Liverpool-Manchester one, so opening that file with RW Tools shows that the textures used are defined in:
Code: Select all
<iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
<BlueprintSetID>
<iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
<Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
<Product d:type="cDeltaString">LiverpoolManchester</Product>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
</BlueprintSetID>
<BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">RailNetwork\Signals\Characters\Pro Signal Chars.xml</BlueprintID>
</iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>I haven't checked every texture but the half a dozen or so I have checked are just single letters, so if this is the signal you want to use you'll need new textures producing to display more than 1 character per texture, and of course those textures either referencing in the Pro Signal Chars.bin file or a new .bin producing that you could point the signal to.
Dead easy eh???
The quickest way to determine if that is the signal you've used is to rename the ..\Assets\RSC\LiverpoolManchester\RailNetwork\Signals\Pro Signals\Pro Signal Posts\Ground Signal M2.bin file to
Ground Signal M2.bin.X
and see if the signal disappears when you load your route up. If it does, you know exactly what you've used so renaming the file back to
Ground Signal M2.bin
gets you back to visible signals.
Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
cheers for the image I'll use this as a guide.
I've just been onto my route to test out an M2 signal (I'm using the WCML Trent Valley ukpro signals) and typed in each slot a single number 1, 2 and 3, the signal went to white but nothing pops up on the indicator screen now?
I'm stumped to why this is happening, I've checked out the texture files in RWtools which I have a screenshot of. for some reason there are no letter textures on these do you recon it's worth me using the Liverpool to Manchester ones instead?
P.S do you need some screens of my track so you know what signals I'm trying to link them onto?

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
I'm not at home for a few days so can't check, but I suspect that the textures are a solid white block, with the alpha channel determining which bits of white are displayed.

Re: multiple number/letter indicater signals?
Whilst talking signals - anyone know how to display the entered signal number (e.g. TS 17) for the JT set (others?) on the 2D map please?
