Superlabs FGW HST

Post by Kentucky86 »

Good Day everyone from Florida - USA

I am now slowly dabbling into train simulator after being an MSTS user for years. I have downloaded and a few reskins with success however something strange happened on the way to the superlabs GWR HST.

The set downloaded I followed the readme file and the end result is that the carriages turn up but power cars do not. Now I can see the power cars on the list and select them but when I try to place one it appears to be invisible. But the carriages are fine.

Now let me add this. The readme says I need the European Pack. I have all the assets that are included in the European Pack (I think through the Oxford - Paddington route) and some have told me, yes that is the Euro Pack. However I suspect maybe there is something a bit different with the HST that comes with that route vs the ones in the Euro pack.

Anyway can anyone offer any guidance?

Thank You!!!

You're not alone. I installed some superalbs HST reskins for a scenario. They appear ok in the scenario but I'm not having any success in placing them in Editor for my own scenarios.
I checked that I had the Kuju folder ticked. As I have been messing with my Nvidia display settings I put it down to me and didn't contact 'superalbs' whose other re-skins I have installed installed fine and look great.
I tried the XC set, FGW 43027 and the GWR set but the power cars don't appear..

Anyone else having problems before I contact 'superalbs'?

Did the Geopcdx files get copied? Batch files sometimes fail if you have steam in the default location - I'm assuming it's not a manual copy & paste job.

If it uses child objects you may need to have Albie's provider/product box ticking.

I reached out to Superlabs he seemed to think I do have the Euro pack installed but I may be missing something from Armstrong so when I get back at this in the morning I will give it a go. If I find a solution I will post it to help others. I have had very god luck with reskins and many from Superlabs before but as being an experienced MSTS simmer I know glitches and unforeseen things happen.

Thank You!

Didn't see that in the installation instructions but I'll have a more careful look, a cup of tea, maybe some cake and have a clear headed, calm play.
Got to be something nice and simple?

Ah, there it is hidding at the very bottom of the manual.. in this example the XC set reskin and the GWR has the same
12. Launch ‘Train Simulator 2016’, clear the cache, and the reskin should have successfully been installed.
To use this reskin in scenarios, you must tick the product folder in superalbs>xchst.

Hmm.. But not in the Class 43 – First Great Western (43027) 90 Glorious Years re-skin manual
Well let's hope your right Gary. Certainly a good shout.

Yes I did the Geo copy and paste.

What is funny is there is also another option for the reskin where you GWR set plus the few other power car schemes such as the Bristol 2015, building a greater west etc. hey all work except the GWR.

I am going to try a few suggestions.

OK Superlabs advice worked For those with this issue if you do not have the Armstrong sound pack you need to go to Superlab's website and download the replacement files. That plus triple checking all GEO files were in place worked. Thank you everyone who responded.

Hello, if anyone is still having problems with any HST reskins, please do ensure that you have used the correct *.bin files for whether or not you have the soundpack installed.

For scenarios you are making, you will also need to make sure that my provider/product box is ticked for the relevant reskin (this is to make sure that child-objects are loaded).
43027 doesn't need said box to be ticked, as no child objects were used, but if I recall correctly you still do need to use the correct *.bin file, which may be why it's not working.

Any more issues, just reply here or contact me through my page, thanks! :)
