Well it's called optimise disks in 10 - forgot what it was called on 7 - I think it's defragment, but as Peter says, it should be automatic but I run it manually after a major update to tidy the disk up.

Re: TS2017 Graphics Changed?
Just to note that SSD's should not be "de fragged". They do not need it.

True Martin, Trim is the SSD equivalent.

The TRIM routine happens automatically; it's very rare to need to invoke it.

Re: TS2017 Graphics Changed?
Should you lock the frame rate in TS, my old computer hobbled along at 15fps on demanding routes, since I got a new computer with GTX970 I get very good frame rates, less demanding routes like Peterbourgh York I get over 100fps for most of the route, WCML in open country around 75fps, really get any drop below 45fps on any route, apart from crossover between tiles when I get a little stutter, should I set fps at 60 or leave it.

Why fix it if it ain't broke?
If what you're getting is visually pleasing you don't need to set a limit.

My problem is some routes are causing a stutter on my older equipment - like the Hamburg - Lubeck.gptech wrote:Why fix it if it ain't broke?

GEML used to give me problems so I have not used it for a bit now.

I've been having issues myself, but not with framerates. I've noticed missing objects with routes, even with the Great Western Main Line. I've attached thumbnails to show what I see, for the WCML North and Wherry Lines. I have the graphics setting set to high in the game, and I also tried setting it to the highest setting; I still got the same result. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: TS2017 Graphics Changed?
I'm not at all sure if this is relevant but it may be. The following is an extract taken from SCS's (developer of American/European Truck Sim) blog regarding Nvidia's Gforce Experience update on 9th September:
-------------------
Some two days ago, Nvidia released a new version of their Geforce Experience utility. This is a great tool to keep the graphics drivers up to date and to assist beginner players with optimization of game settings. Unfortunately, it seems that in our game's case, Geforce Experience is overly optimistic, using very aggressive values for the "scaling" parameter (up to 300% on mid-range cards), or for shadow quality.
The term "scaling" sounds innocent, but actually it stands for a super-sampling coefficient. Super-sampling is a brute-force method of anti-aliasing, causing the game to render the whole scene at higher resolution than the target screen resolution, and then downscaling it to actual screen size, making the picture sharper in the process. Setting it to a high value is sure to strain even a very powerful 3D card. To illustrate the matter with an example - if you have a full-HD monitor, the screen is covered roughly by 2 million pixels. With the "scaling" set to 200%, you are asking the game to render everything at a higher resolution, rendering 4 million pixes, effectively doubling the graphics's card load.
The Geforce Experience tool is happy to go and overwrite the game's config.cfg variable values, and the user may not even be aware of this change of the game's settings. If you are unhappy with the game performance, we urge you to go into game's Options screen and review the parameters on the graphics settings tab there to adjust the performance vs. looks balance according to your preference.
-------------------
Just a thought anyway.

Re: TS2017 Graphics Changed?
Don't think so SunDog. The GeForce experience app only supports certain games, and last time I looked TS201X wasn't one of them, It could be that newer drivers have reset some settings though.

This would be the 'Scenery density' slider. Turn that to maximum and your missing items should come back.amtrake8a wrote:I've been having issues myself, but not with framerates. Re: TS2017 Graphics Changed?
Possible solution to the original problem in this thread:
In case you are using the "Shadow Fix" posted here: http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic. ... 1&t=145907,
try to revert to the original shader.
This is how I got my "lost frames" back.

Re: TS2017 Graphics Changed?
Same for me too. I was thinking back to other changes I'd made recently and remembered the shaders mod file. I re-installed the originals and it almost doubled the frame rates from what I'd been getting. So things are good for me too now
