Problem with 7Zip

Up until a day or two ago, after I'd downloaded a file, I would open it with jZip with a double click.
Then, if it had an rwp, that would show the icon as 7Z (it still does). Double clicking that would
open up the rwp and show (typically) an assets and content folder, which I simply extracted into
the relevant place.
However, now when I d/click the 7Z icon, it appears to go through the motions of extracting,
but no other window opens.
I have reloaded 7Zip and installed but still the same.
Any pointers please?

Is 7zip set as the default app to open zip files in the settings for Windows?

It seems to be. If I r/click properties on an rwp file it certainly shows the 7Z association.
Funny thing is though, if I double click an rwp file, something opens and shows on the taskbar
but not on the monitor. If I hover the mouse over the taskbar, a small window opens but it's too
small to see. Click on that miniature window makes it disappear instead of bringing it to the fore.
I've not changed any settings on my pc to my knowledge.

Have you installed / had an update for any other software since the last time 7Zip worked? I had a similar problem with Paint Shop Pro 9, one minute it worked and an hour later it didn't. After re-installing it to no avail I had a look at the list of installed programs in Control Panel and found that Dropbox had installed a new version between PSP working and not. Uninstalling Dropbox restored PSP to normal.

I have the same issue as you. The first time it happened a box appeared momentarily on the screen with "7-zip console" plus other info - gone too fast to read, and it has never been since.
I do not see anything on my task bar and process monitor does not display that any action has occurred.
Must be a "new improved" feature or yet another glitch with Windows 10 anniversary update.
I must admit that I mainly use the right click on any TS file as you can use the "extract archive" function which allows you to extract any file that you want form a zipped file, eg routeproperties.xml from an .ap file, and you can also extract any compressed file to wherever you want.
Is it worth dropping 7-zip an email to se if there is a fix?

I just used 7zip with the latest version of Windows 10 with no issues.

I have never had problems with 7zip in the past, but since a recent update to Win8.1, have been unable to open some, but not all, zipped files. For example, UKTS_35873_Birmingham_2010_v_7.1.zip opens, but the included rwp file fails to unzip with a "data error". I have the latest version of 7zip, and this opens the vast majority of zip and rwp files. What is going wrong?

Tried uninstalling Dropbox but doesn't seem to have made any difference - but haven't restart the pc.
Off to work now so will try later this evening.

For those having problems it sounds like you have .rwp files associated with 7Zip Console - you need them to be associated with 7Zip File Manager for them to open in the application. Change the association using Open With in Explorer and set 7Zip File Manager (7zFM.exe) as the default association.

My own zip files are associated with 7FM, it is the ones in some of these downloads that have the problems. I can "open" the window showing what is in the zip, but when I try to unzip the rwp, or even drop it onto my desktop, I get the data error. Looking at the properties of the files in the "window", it does not say which version of 7zip it was compressed with. Moreover, I cannot change the association whilst I cannot look at the file in Explorer (eg on my desktop).

I've just downloaded UKTS_35873_Birmingham_2010_v_7.1.zip and can't reproduce your problem. Windows Explorer shows the contents of the zip file and double clicking on the .rwp opens it in 7Zip. Alternatively I can double click on the zip file which opens it in 7Zip, then open the .rwp in 7Zip.
Have you tried re-downloading the file?

This is the sequence I get when I drag the zip file to the 7zip shortcut on my desktop
and then drag the enclosed rwp to the same shortcut
My son in law suggested that there may be problems trying to open zip files on the Desktop (though never had such problems before), so moved the folder to the D: drive, but same result

I have checked, and rwp files are associated with 7Zip Manager already.
When I d/click a zip (that contains an rwp) the normal zip window opens (J Zip in my case).
But d/clicking on the rwp only produces an icon on the taskbar - no windows at all.

I have just downloaded the Birmingham route using Free Download Manager to my Desktop, unzipped it to my desktop using WinZip, opened up the RWP file with 7zip, and installed it into TS with no problems.
