It's too simple and the lever type is worse. Should be done better, even if it is simplier to use at the end. With that lever type you will get a wobbly regulation behaveiour as i can see in the video directly. Not a real control over the TE and BE. But lets see. It is just a Beta lite the BR218, who was sold as a Beta and never got updates :x

The PESA LINK is not really a beauty i guess. But it is bit more aerodynamic. I have seen that thing in real and it looks ugly from most sides.

Tried to drive this beast yesterday.

Looked at manual. Got VERY confused. Read manual again. Still confused.

Managed to switch the battery on; managed to raise the pantograph. Managed to move the throttle/brake figured BUT couldn't switch the engine on...

Help needed. :-?

Can anyone supply me with a set of keystrokes/switch settings to get the thing moving?

Kind regards,

I find that I will buy something these days if they have simple controls as the advanced.models are getting so complicated, maybe they could have a switcher,so you can switch between one or the other, like JT do.

Doable, BUT alot of extra effort to spend just for that 'simple' switch. As all the 'complicated' addons are not really that complicated, i didn't see any reason to spend that effort into. The only result of that would be a raise of the price at the end.

Maik,

I entirely sympathise.

I'm happy to go through the formal "Cardinal Puff" sequence IF I can discover what it is. :(

In the case of the RailTraction BR430, the manual gives a listing of knobs, switches and key-strokes but assumes that the user will know or guess the sequence in which to use them to set the machine in motion. Never having driven a German EMU in real life - a deficiency which I suppose that at least a few other users will share - I had hoped for a rather better set of instructions...

A thorough 'browse' labelling on the screen of the aforesaid switches and knobs would also be nice. But, hey, not everyone can match virtual Railroads' standards...

Kind regards,

John M

PS For those unacquainted with such things, "Cardinal Puff" is (or was?) a drinking 'game' in which the player must drain a (large) glass of beer & spirits in three long swallows, reciting and acting a moderately complicated ritual between swallows. Any mistake is rewarded by the topping up of the glass and the restarting of the whole sequence - with predictable effects on the player's chance of ultimate success/escape.

I have received the following email from RailTraction Support. I want both to say 'Thank You' to them and to pass these instructions on to others.
Hi John,

I would have liked to support you on the forum from UK trainsim but we do not have a working account there.

Here's a short check list for how to startup the br430.

1: Switch battery on
2:Raise pantographs
3: Release the hand brake this one you can find under the battery switch. (Hold button LOSEN for minimal 5 seconds, lights start flashing and light go off, ) if this go good than the stopping/station brake will activate, you see the air pressure increasing.
4:Switch reverser inside the driving direction
5: You are ready to go, unlock the traction lever with Key E on your key board. Than the traction lever is able to move free to traction position.

Note: if the wiper still stand inside the middle? than push the wipers on and off, Wiper should turn back to parking position left

If you have any questions feel free to contact us

Best Regards,

I think that step 3 was the one I was misunderstanding.

So, my thanks to RailTraction for a prompt, friendly and helpful reply!

Kind regards,

John M
