Bernina express, went on that train from Chur to Tirano which I believe to be the Albula? The motor baggage cars hauled our train.749006 wrote:I'm not sure which stock of the Samedan to Tirano line would be used on the Albula route.smarty2 wrote:It would make sense for them to do the line from Samedan to Tirano then one would expect the Bernina stock to come into play which can be used on the Albula as well.
The main service runs from St Moritz to Tirano using 1000v DC Motor coaches pulling ordinary or express coaches.

From Samedan the line to Pontrasina is electrified at 11000kv AC like the Albula line.
Only the new Allegra units can work over both systems

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
From Chur to Pontresina the Ge4/4 will have hauled the trains and then the power cars forward on 1000v DC but the Bernina Express coaches are the only thru stock - until they built these horrible Allegra units.smarty2 wrote:Bernina express, went on that train from Chur to Tirano which I believe to be the Albula? When I did the line I rode in those power cars as they have passenger accommodation

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
I just wanted to say that this is a very beautiful route, very well made, looking much better than the average TS route. Great atmosphere. Well worth getting. Great challenge to drive over the steep gradients.
Looking forward to seeing extra stock materialize over time, or another RhB route.

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
I got this today (forgot about any possible sales ! Duh)
However, to echo Tims comments, this really is a fantastic route and although I'm not really a continental fan,
I was looking (dreaming) of a trip on the Glacia Express
https://www.magicswitzerland.com/tours/ ... erland.htm
and suddenly realised this is indeed the route of the Glacia Express (stock included) I could not resist it.
Worth every penny. Thank you.

Love this route, and the new enhancement pack adds to the fun!
Especially the speed restrictions!
I wonder what will be in Pack 02??

I thought a trip over the line with the Mallets und Mikados from RailSim.de
http://rail-sim.de/forum/wsif/index.php ... 0-mm-Spur/
And it was quite interesting running out of St Moritz - except the loco reacts to the Signalling system and you have to cancel the ZWS alert but there is no audio warning.
Good fun

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
I finally succumbed and bought this route and the enhancement pack in the Steam Sale. As a great fan of the freeware Albula route, I am happy to report that the the GE 4/4 iii seems to run well on the freeware route. The panto goes up the fixed height of the freeware conductor wires and stays there ( as it should), so does the panto on the baggage car.
I know it is personal choice and I am a great respecter of the Thomson work, but I actually prefer the overall visual effect of the freeware route over the DTG /Thomson one ( the rendering of the mountains especially is more realistic) . Still the narrow gauge stock is very welcome and the signals etc are great. So a worthwhile purchase.

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
Has anyone seen any stock like this on offer from anyone ?
I'd like to use it on the Albula line where this was taken.
Thanks John

I'm not aware of any narrow-gauge version of a loco similar to this being made for Train Simulator.johnrossetti wrote:Has anyone seen any stock like this on offer from anyone ? I'd like to use it on the Albula line where this was taken.

The closest you can get, as far as I'm aware, is the ÖBB "Crocodile" which you can buy via the Steam Marketplace. However, that is a standard gauge loc so you'd have to turn a blind eye to the gauge difference.
Here's a link to a shot of the orange version, but the pack also includes a green version:

The coaches are available separately I believe.
I know I should have somewhere also some screenshots of this engine on the Albula and the freeware Albula but I can't find them now.
Perhaps I should do a quick QD for you to show some screenshots so you can judge for yourself how well or how bad it fits...
Cheers,

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
I purchased the OEBB 1189 with coaches sometime ago from Just Trains, it comes with 3 scenarios for the Ruhr Seig line unfortunately it's not available for Quick Drive.
Hope that info helps.

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
There are updates for it. I don't know if these updates are available via JT, if you have bought it via vR then the updates should be available? I thought that the latest version from vR did have QD support.aussiebob wrote:I purchased the OEBB 1189 with coaches sometime ago from Just Trains, it comes with 3 scenarios for the Ruhr Seig line unfortunately it's not available for Quick Drive.

If you buy it via the Steam Marketplace then it will for sure be available for QD.
I uploaded a bunch more screenshots for you of this engine, on the Thomson Albula line this time:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =920915320
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =920915220

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =920918358
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =920917512
So you can see for yourself if you can live with the difference in gauge, or rather not
The package if €11,- on Steam (don't know about pounds) and the coaches are included.
Cheers,

Re: Albula line from DTG/Thomson
If it's the crocodile you're after more than that specific route, they will also be perfectly at home on the Semmeringbahn, the Three Country Corner route, or the Mittenwaldbahn!
Cheers and enjoy the time driving with your grandchild(ren),
