Well, tbf you know some of what it is, but not the whole thing or the scope of the work done either.
I think it's fine for now.

"Hello to our Facebook followers, we hope you're having a good weekend so far. This is Matt at VP, and I've got news of an exciting opportunity for YOU to get involved with being a small part of something BIG!!
It probably hasn't escaped your notice that a preserved Deltic was posted out on our page the other day, and those of you in the know will know that in total 6 Deltics managed to escape the cat food factory. Our first package is going to centre upon these preserved examples of the East Coast maestros, but not all at one time in their second lives as railway powerhouses.
We are interested in making scenarios and model unique items that have adorned the preserved members of the class throughout their lifetime - and to that end, we would love some input on any favourite or memorable workings/railtours that you would like to see in TS. In this package we hope to make it possible to also have some scenarios bundled as well as the locomotives themselves. So the stipulations are below:
1 - One of the 6 preserved Class 55s, 55002,009,015,016,019 or 022.
2 - A working that can be either completely or in a large enough part that can be made for a route currently existing in TS available through Steam or one of the other payware developers.
3 - We would welcome any titled railtours or running events on preserved lines if you have photos/details on any special headboards or livery details that adorned the working.
4 - That it has taken part during the preserved lives of these locomotives post 1982.
That's it folks - you can post answers/suggestions/questions in the comments, or via our support address, and we look forward to being able to take your input on board to help make a memorable add-on for Train Simulator.
Thanks
Matt - Head of Napier Resurrection."

Hi all, thanks if you have popped by the Facebook page for scenario and headboard suggestions, this really is invaluable for us at VP and it gives you a chance to put a little stamp on something you will get the chance to own.
I have just uploaded a video showing D9002 and all of her custom additions, along with an explanation of the controls that have been added along with scripting to add a lot more functionaility and flexibility to your usage of this package of locomotives. This video should be embedded in the post below. I apologise if the microphone has at time got overpowered, I need to perhaps invest in a slightly more expensive item that can do the job properly.

A couple of them were based on the Nene Valley Railway in the late 1970's early 1980's
I remember going there then

Sadly I am unaware of a virtual version of the route currently or even in development.michaelhendle wrote:A couple of them were based on the Nene Valley Railway in the late 1970's early 1980's

Great work, looking forward to it!
Some of the preserved Deltics are mainline registered, will we be seeing a NRN set and a TWPS panel?

Not quite. The Deltics were not withdrawn (55009/15/22) till Jan 2nd 1982. It wasn't till 8th Sept 1983 till 55022 (D9000) took up residence there. So I'll give you the "early 1980's" partmichaelhendle wrote:A couple of them were based on the Nene Valley Railway in the late 1970's early 1980's

Unless someone wants to come forward and spend forever and a day modelling them in their spare time, then no,sorry,it's just not feasible for us.Timex wrote:Great work, looking forward to it!

I feel this may be a pertinent time to remind folks that I have no formal 3D modelling training, I've not even sat next to somebody who has. Everything I have done has been through skills or tips picked up from others. At 38, computers were not a big part of my education through school either.
I am a Dad of four boys between 9 years old and 11 months old and I work full time as well, so this project is being done in whatever time I have leftover (and, if I'm being honest, quite a bit of time when truthfully I should be sleeping).
I am striving to make this pack the best I can, but there have to be practical limitations too.

Re: Mystery Train from Vulcan Productions
The project didn't get pulled, this is it, it has evolved and improved over time and what you see is still it.
I have learned a lot more than my earlier attempts, and I have had some assistance from some folks in the know within the community, but by and large it has been all my work so a heavily compromised team of one is doing its very best.

I cant remember much from the original thread apart from some cracking screenshots.deltic009 wrote:The project didn't get pulled, this is it, it has evolved and improved over time and what you see is still it.

Anyway, it still lives and breathes!

Re: Mystery Train from Vulcan Productions
Just for your information I am making the Nene Valley Line (I don't call it NVR to avoid confusion and I am making it from Peterborough East to Blisworth in the early 1950s although it will take a while as I am quite detail conscious. I have laid the track from south of Thorpe Waterville through to Wansford and up to Nassington, scenery is complete from Wigsthorpe crossing to the south side of Wansford. This route requires quite a few bespoke buildings which has been fun if not challenging at times.
A film made using route this runs in Oundle museum above an OO scale model of Oundle station, a clip can be found at

I plan at some point to upload the route but I thought it would be better when it is a bit longer. Attached are a few screen shots with a Black 5 which was the mainstay of the line.

We have moved our attentions with the Deltic pack, to now providing realistic exhaust effects.
