Wonderful. Just got the GWR wagon pack 01.
'Why is it that the railway station is so far away from the village?'
The local pauses for a while, then replies:
'They thought it would be a good idea to build it next to the railway line.....'

Just tried to purchase this, and pay by Credit/Debit Card as it states you can. (I dont want anything to do with Pay Pal).

I fill in all the invoice details, with my name and address, etc etc, but it is insisting that I have to provide a user name and pass word for PAYPAL ! Aaaaaaargh !

Can anyone tell me how to pay for it WITHOUT paypal, as it says you can ?

Thanks

Hi Derek. I only see Paypal as way of payment when buying from DT. But then I am ordering from the continent (Europe mainland :)) it may be different from the UK or USA or so.
I would contact DT through their website and explain your issue, they normally respond fairly quick.

It appears that, here in the UK, the only payment option is Paypal. There is a 'guest' payment option, but even this is processed by Paypal. I've never used the 'guest' payment scheme, where you still end up giving Paypal all your details, however, as this is a 'one off' payment I can see no need for a password.

All the best,

The "guest" checkout through Paypal is a credit-card payment system just like any other. There is nothing sinister about it.

Obviously you need to give your details when you pay by credit card. None requires a password unless you choose to store your details with them.

I never said, or implied, that there was anything sinister about Paypal - I use it all the time. It was Derek that said, for whatever reason, "I don't want anything to do with Pay Pal".

Hi PCTech

I WAS using the "guest" payment method, as it led me to believe that if you dont have a PayPal account, then thats the way to do it. But I can assure you that having entered all my card details, address, etc, and pressed "proceed"...it then tells me I have not completed all the boxes, and I need to provide a USER NAME AND PASSWORD FOR PAYPAL !!!!!

So I think you are incorrect.

Strange - my clients have been using that payment system for years and don't experience that.

Guest checkout via PayPal is a weird thing. It has in the past worked for me with some websites and not with others.

PayPal themselves don't quite seem to know how it works or why it doesn't work sometimes and not other times since the answers which I have received from them on inquiry were in contradiction to some of my own experiences.

I never did get guest-checkout to work for some websites (like DT) and in the end threw in the towel, gave in, got a PayPal account (despite my initial very strong resistance against such, just like Derek).

Cheers,
