Do you know that they weren't picked up in testing? I find it hard to believe that something as obvious as the AWS sounds not playing got past both the internal testing process and whatever beta testing took place. To suggest otherwise is rather insulting to the DTG QA team. More likely in my opinion is that it was released warts and all because the Steam release schedule dictated it.

That point of view is certainly credible, but as a bloke who hasn't a clue about setting sounds up can spot the missing references in the proxyxml and *fix* it within 5 minutes it's hardly something that's prevented by the release schedule. If the sounds had been referencing another model there'd be more of an excuse for missing it.

Has anybody got half an idea how to set up sounds to play in response to a key press?...if so, it'll be about 10 times more than I have.....

I can set up the input mapper so the 'call guard' button animation doesn't run when using the second horn tone; can get the button to depress when pressing the 'G' key --G for guard, inventive eh?--but I'm up against it when it comes to making it actually make a noise. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something pretty simple, so if anybody has any insight they don't mind passing on I'd be grateful (if only so I stay on the right side of the KGB now we're not in Europe--both politically and football wise)

Depends on your definition of "broke"---.
This thread started with a complaint that the AWS does not work correctly - but it does on the original version of this unit - that is DTG 'fixing something which was not broke'
And as you created a fix there was obviously a problem.

We could go on forever, but just to clarify it didn't start with a complaint but an observation with no reference to the original model. There's an argument that the AWS wasn't broke, just *mislaid*, a couple of file paths missing from the .proxyxml really isn't 'broken' but careless/sloppy file editing.
You're moving close to blowing what is really a trivial, albeit annoying, issue out of all proportion as the lack of AWS sounds doesn't stop you driving it.

If there's a proxyxml error just use the proxyxml from the original 421. All the sounds are in the BR Blue Pack 421 are the same as the original except for the bogie sounds.

It's not really a 'just' is it?...as the Pack01 file points to the sounds in that pack and doesn't feature the Space/B keys feature for the two tone horn. Also, not much use to anybody who doesn't have the original model either.

I'm sorry but I just agreed with Andy UK that something you have purchased should work - if it's a new item then there might be faults - like the Class 73 which you and others provided a patch for - thanks :)
But to release an item which is basically a reskin and for it to have faults when the original did not is wrong and shows a lack of testing :(

That, at least, is something we agree on.
However, arguing amongst ourselves ain't gonna fix it.

*Fix* revised again to remove the animation on the call button when pressing the B key for the horn; pressing 'G' does that now as it sounds the driver-guard buzzer
(the call button still sounds the horn when pressing it with the mouse though)

Slightly bigger download as it now includes a revised input mapper and revised .bin files for the two variants of the DTCL (with and without a driver) in addition to the proxyxml.

Many thanks for this fix Gary,

I'm now happier than Rod Hull with my EMU! For non-Brits, and Brits 'not of a certain age', you'll need to Google that.......

Gary, next time you are passing The Kremlin, pop in and collect your Order of Lenin and bonus Lada Riva.

Cheers for now

The KGB, joyfully pressing 'G'

Every time I press 'G' on my keyboard, I throw a hand grenade. Oh, sorry, wrong game......

Gary,
for the dummys amongst us, no installation notes. I appreciate you only have to go back and look at your first offering, but as I say, the dummys.
