Hi all,
Is the Class 42 / Class 43 now a complete dead end in terms of trying to buy it? It's not on Steam and there's no mention anywhere I can find that's not 6 years out of date.
Cheers

Re: Class 42 no longer available?
To the best of my knowledge it has never been available on Steam or published by DTG/RSC (or its predecessors).
It was produced by he-who-shall-not-be-named, and acquired by DTG as part of his whole portfolio. The general expectancy was that it would be re-published (maybe with tweaks etc, similar to several other models), but so far that hasn't happened
There was actually another (much) older freeware model by Michael Whiteley but it had a cab aliased to the Deltic, which looked a bit strange, and other shortcomings which made it necessary to tweak and adapt for more recent versions of TS20XX

Re: Class 42 no longer available?
The Michael Whiteley Class 42/43 does indeed have a "proper" Warship cab interior - it is not aliased to a Deltic (at least, the one I bought from him isn't). From what I recall, Mike based his Warship cab on photos I provided to him at the time. Unfortunately, it disappeared from his website some time ago so I guess it's no longer available either. However, for anyone who bought it at the time, it still runs on TS2016 just fine.

Re: Class 42 no longer available?
Thanks for your help. Hopefully MeshTools will one day be able to bring life back into this - I have the Michael Whiteley 42/43 give to me as a gift and it looks very nice.

OK, wasn't aware of that one, must been been an updated/improved version. I tweaked mine a long time ago with the wiperpairs edit and a couple of other things, and prefer the sounds to the other better-known (now in the DTG coffers) version. Who knows, we may yet see DTG release something, like they did with the Hymek, but it's strange that they didn't take the opportunity with the Riviera Line and its offshootsashgray wrote:The Michael Whiteley Class 42/43 does indeed have a "proper" Warship cab interior - it is not aliased to a Deltic (at least, the one I bought from him isn't). Re: Class 42 no longer available?
Now that you mention it, I think the one I bought was an updated version. I too am surprised that an updated Warship hasn't yet surfaced as it's a very popular diesel and there are routes crying out for it. I do know that Mike had real problems over the shape of the front end and the complex cab details (until I sent him my photos of the latter) and the front end shape in particular is vital to this loco looking right, so may be a factor in why we've not seen an updated model yet.chrisonline wrote:OK, wasn't aware of that one, must been been an updated/improved version. I took the opportunity some time ago of taking hundreds of photos of just about every angle of D832's cab, while it's on loan from the East Lancs railway to the West Somerset Railway. As I've said before in posts, I'd be happy to make these photos available to anyone - commercial or otherwise - who is considering making a TS2016 Warship model and needs detailed info about the Warship cab design.
Ironically, this weekend's WSR gala will be D832's final appearance on the WSR before it returns to Bury after 7 years.

Re: Class 42 no longer available?
Could certainly do with a Warship....
Re: Class 42 no longer available?
Couldn't agree more. Hope DTG read these forums, they would be onto a winner with one of these especially as they have a decent base model to work from. Day 1 purchase for me if they did. Ah well we live in hope.rkk01 wrote:Could certainly do with a Warship....
