OHLE and graphic settings

Hi there everyone
I have a screenshot to show you guys...
This is how my game looks, with custom graphic settings (between medium and high). We can clearly see that the OHLE (and everything that consists of lines eg. fences) appears irregular, striped, and has interruptions that move with the game. I think most people get my point.
But it puzzles me. So I wanted to know if anyone had some advice about which graphic settings should I modify to prevent this from happening, or at least minimise it.
Thanks a lot !

The jagged edges on lines that aren't exactly vertical or horizontal are lessened by applying more Anti-Aliasing.
What are your PC specs, exactly what are your in-game settings, and any settings applied in your graphics card's control panel applet?

Hi there
Those are my PC specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 (3.4 GHz, 3.8 with TurboBoost)
RAM: 8 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550Ti
These are my in-game settings:

It will be because you are using only FXAA antialiasing. If you use 4 or 8 x MSAA or some SSAA (which will hit performance, obviously) then the visual appearance can be vastly improved. If you need to offset a performance loss then reducing shadow quality, view distance are the ones to notch down first.
Also turn off procedural flora, depth of field and you should see an improvement there too.

Hi, if that's a 1 gig 550Ti, it's really going to struggle at full HD with any sort of workload. Maximum for that card if it's doing lots of work is I think 1680 x 900. Mine used to really struggle if I had lots of AA - turning it down to 1280 x 720 meant I could crank up the settings without it falling over and cooking.

I was thinking similarly, but no harm in trying it and seeing.
At 1680x1050 I used to run 1x2 (or was it 2x1?) SSAA with no shadows on a GTX 260; with a GTX 580 I now run at 2x2 with high shadows, although it doesn't always hold 30 fps.
In particular, it's worth trying the 1x2 and 2x1 settings to see which one you think looks better, if you don't have the 'grunt' for 2x2. I believe one should be better for the gantries, the other for the wires...

I had no bother running at 1980x1020 with a 1GB EVGA 550Ti: 1x2 or 2x1 SSAA depending on which looked best per route but all the quality sliders up at max. Yes, it stuttered in places such as Glasgow Central but on the whole ran with an acceptable 20ish FPS quite smoothly.

The best resolution to run any monitor at, regardless of CPU or GPU fitted, is it's native resolution---if you need to go smaller then running in a window would be the better option.

These two posts of mine from a while back might be useful for seeing the difference SSAA makes:

I had a GTX 1gb 560TI card and upgraded to a GTX 960 2gb card which improved performance. I have all the graphics sliders hard right and have procedural flora etc all ticked.

Yes Trev, but he wants to know the best settings for the 550 he has, not asking for recommendations regarding a replacement card.

I'm not giving recommendations. I'm just saying what I have done.

You had better ask the OP. I don't have a crystal ball in front of me.
