A couple of interesting ones to consider:

I'd actually be interested to know what service the 205 in the first link is operating...!

According to this table of SR post-1980s headcodes, 60 denotes the service is a London Victoria to Eastbourne via Redhill service.GatwickSpotting wrote:A couple of interesting ones to consider:

Or as the second picture suggests it was used as a shuttle service due to flood damage further up the line which could have resulted in a isolation of the 3rd rail and required a diesel unit to run a shuttle servicexguerra wrote:According to this table of SR post-1980s headcodes, 60 denotes the service is a London Victoria to Eastbourne via Redhill service.GatwickSpotting wrote:A couple of interesting ones to consider:

based in London back to St Leonards depot for servicing each day.
I think it may well be the 09:25 London Bridge to Eastbourne and it was formed of 9 cars.
But don't quote me

Re: Armstrong Powerhouse Class 205 Thumper!!
Cross-referencing the Southern E-Group's headcode tables with the photo made me think it was Victoria - Eastbourne train, which is headcode 60.
London Bridge - Eastbourne was 61, but I suppose the driver could have the put up the wrong number, though he would probably have been in trouble if he had.
But thanks for the info about St Leonard's transfers! Has the potential for a future L2B scenario.

Re: Armstrong Powerhouse Class 205 Thumper!!
Going off a little bit here but just wanted to post that 'Hasting's Thumper sets were used on Brighton to Exeter services late 70's? Maybe between Warships and Comptons period on the LSWR mainline.
And green preserved Hastings set visited Exeter in the late 90's with a railtour. Not 205's I know but interesting to see that they did turn up in odd places for real! Although I remember them in the 80's mainly on the Reading to Portsmouth Harbour services stopping at my parents local station of Bramley, Hants on the non-electrified line from Reading to Basingstoke. They really did give years of good service.
Happy days,
