Are you taking the report from RW Tools stating a .xml file is being called for literally? RW Tools will show .xml extensions for .bin files in many cases.
Do you see .bin files in the folder using Windows Explorer?

Hi Gary....Just checked with Windows explorer, and as you say....the bin files DO show up there....eg "Class 456_DMSO.bin" etc etc. But when I use RW Tools to search for the RSC Class 456, the only file in the engine folder is the
"xml" files ?

Cheers

I seem to be the only person confounded by this particular problem. Whilst most people are having troubles getting the resource-intensive scenarios to run, I'm having trouble just getting the game to run anything involving a 205. Placing one down in a Free Roam scenario instantly causes the game to crash (with that "Saved dump file" dialogue box) even on a small route like the Freeware Epping-Ongar Railway, with graphic settings on low, or trying to load a scenario with a 205 already in it, the game permanently freezes on the loading screen.

I'm confounded about the problem because no payware rolling stock has been as troublesome as this one. I would say its bugged but no-one else apparently is having the same problem on a bare bones Free Roam or QuickDrive.

I guess there are two not very ideal solutions. Turn everything graphics down to a minimum to which there would be no point driving because there's nothing to see outside of the train, or get a new computer which I would not be able to afford for months. I'm running this on a laptop and although on normal days it doesn't run as nicely as most would like to run it, its bearable enough with me. The 205 pack simply makes it unplayable. I've been onto AP in hoping for a solution that either doesn't involve me NOT playing the 205s at all, or splashing out hundreds on a rig that can run it.

Which isn't recommended nor officially supported. What are the specs of this machine?...the 205 has masses of scripting which could be just that wee bit too much for your machine.

That seems to apply for most items of stock.

As I said in my earlier post I had the same problem placing once coach on the track with no other rail vehicles present on the Test Track.

Although I ran the ECS from London Bridge to Selhurst without any problems.

How are you using RW Tools to search for them Derek?...and when using Windows Explorer are there any .xml files in the default DMSO folder?

Curious to know what people's specs are to get the pack to run in custom scenarios, quick drive and freeroam. I think its time to build a gaming PC.

Hi Gary

I am attempting to swap the Class 456 in the same way I have successfully swapped other locos in the past....

I select "edit scenario", and then click on each consist until I find a missing asset.
I then (in this case), use the folder tree on the right and click until I get down as far as the RSC Class 456 "rail vehicles" folder.
I then select "EMU" from the choice of train above the folder tree window,.
I then select "find rolling stock".

Normally the replacement items I can use, pop up almost instantly as an option. But with the RSC Class 456, I cannot get any "bin" files to show in the "swappable window".

Cheers

Been running TS on laptops ever since 2013 - better question would be "what are the specifications of your computer". Matters little why case those components are in. For example my little laptop is sporting a Nvidia 980 discrete card and an I7 core with 16 G of ram - not your mother's laptop for sure, but does a marvelous job running TS, FSX-SE , The new Doom ...

Yes the 205 is a beast when it comes to certain scenario's.... Take the cold start one, I had to keep cutting my DSR rate down to 2x from 4x before it would run! And I'm running an overclocked i5 at 4 Ghz with 16Gb ram and a GTX760 might be the 760? :-?

I have also had a Temp Dump (only one) when placing the Thumper in an FR,but can't say I've had more than that,I imagine it was due to the memory overloading on my ageing PC.

Derek, make sure the folder and files are Read/Write, not Read Only.
