Re: Vulcan Productions Churnet Valley Raliway
Took a ride on this route this morning/Afternoon (for real that is!) Nice, going back with a little group, help support it. Noticed a yankee steamer at Cheddleton!
Also a crompton and a 25, was hauled by a PkP steamer tank, I presume that the chatting racket was a Westinghouse setup?
Best Regards

Yes it was the air pump making the noise and there are 2 American S160's 6046 which is operational and 5197 which is nearing the end of its overhaul as its boiler was steam tested the other day as well as 2 Class 33's 33102 which is operational and 33021 currently in the shed having major bodywork done to the cab ends since they have rotted and rusted away because they were filled with fiberglass for waterproofing when assisting in the building of the channel tunnel. Another PkP in the yard waiting to begin restortation. The Class 25 is Owned by shareholders of the North Staffordshire Railway group which is on the waiting list to be restored after 5197 and the Class 47, The Class 47 well in the process of being restored, Class 04 out of traffic for gearbox repairs, Brightside (basically a prototype Class 02) just finished being restored and fully operational and finally Roger H Bennett (Yorkshire Engine Company) Class Janus which is also opperational but needs work on its traction motors.
Cheers Ash

They have an 8F stowed away too somewhere I believe? Unless they sold it off since?
Nice little route this and good representation, trying to remember how drivers would approach the driving through cheddleton. Would they slow for the home signal at approach or do they just ignore that one and use the crossing as the signal. I know they stop there on the return journey.

Sadly the 8F (assuming your thinking of the same one) is in many bits, unrestored around Cheddleton

Quick google on their site and remembered it was 48173. Looks like Barry condition, but not the worst of conditions of engines we have seen leave there, stripped down for restoration to begin as soon as 5197 is finished... apparently. Obviously things changealmark wrote:Sadly the 8F (assuming your thinking of the same one) is in many bits, unrestored around Cheddleton
