Just Trains Manor activation problem

Post by severnrail »

Hi all,

I own the GWR Manor from Just Trains as a DVD version and bought it from them not long after release. Today, in order to utilise fully the SSS Manor soundpack, I purchased the Manor add on for the base pack, also on Just Trains. However, I cannot install the pack as I need to have an activation apparently for the download version of the basepack, where I own the base pack but as a DVD version, and thus I cannot use the add on pack :( can anyone help?

Cheers,

Henry

I would imagine that JT support will help with this. Have you contacted them?

Hi, if you've changed the computer or hard drive, the registry entries will be missing. Uninstall the manor then reinstall as administrator. the expansion installer should then be able to find the licence file and it should install correctly. You will need to validate the expansion though! :)

With the packs I use it pops up with a box to enter your email address and password to validate on a clean install.

If the Manor needs the registry entry to install, how did he install it originally on a clean, post move to the Steam platform hence no registry entry for the game itself, system?

Your *solution* would only work if the Manor adds the reg entry, and if the addon actually looks for a registry entry, and even then is a bit of a drastic way to add any *missing* registry keys---far simpler to try the little fix at http://www.justtrains.net/support/downl ... ue/10ffc32 and if that doesn't work the bigger fix for safedisc protected products is at http://www.justtrains.net/support/insta ... lp/215c1d9

Once again, deleting/un-installing and re-installing products is only valid if you're 100% certain that said product is faulty and you need to fix a much more basic error.

Just trains products add a registry entry for the licence files - I didn't mean the main TS folder location entry.

in which case the installation of the base Manor pack may have added one; admittedly an entry corresponding to the boxed version so it shouldn't be a big surprise that an addition for the downloaded version can't recognise such a key. No amount of un-installing/re-installing will cause the boxed version to add the right key.
Whether it'd work if the installation was copied to another drive rather than a full install is of course unknown, but it's reasonable to expect that an installation system designed to protect JT's products would check when the product was next used.
