The only time you will hear these nice motor sounds is when another unit goes past.
No sure if you can hear the motors in view 2 - helicopter mode.

Not saying anything is wrong with this sound pack but I don't think it's for me.

You can't hear the traction motors from the cabs in real life. I don't think this is an omission somehow.
But I did not say you could hear the sounds from the cab.
The point I was making, and again, is having got the sounds changed with this pack you might as well not have them as you cannot hear anything unless you are outside.
If I'm going to have a sound pack I wish to enjoy the sounds :)
Having run the 319 and 421 units with AP Sound packs I can hear the traction motor sounds from the cab.

And again, I''m "Not saying anything is wrong with this sound pack but I don't think it's for me."

I suppose it depends on:
1) Whether you ever go outside of the cab.
2) If you don't, whether you want the cab to sound realistic or as if you were outside.

The class 319 has louder motors so are just about audible from the cab in reality. The 421 is an old pack which shouldn't really have the motors as audible in the cab.

Presumably they can but it will be a matter of editing the correct sections of the .bin files.

Sorry if my comments don't meet your expectations after all my opinion WILL be different to yours as we all like different things
I think the main point of Varney's post was to highlight you suddenly changing opinions.

Believe it or not, not all units have all bogies powered. Some vehicles don't have any at all. As I said earlier, it's realistic for you not to really hear much when driving...

My apologies Peter. Misread your post and tone somewhat.

Hi all
The minute a move the go lever a beeping starts and will not stop until I return the lever to off. The handbrake button does nothing but releasing the park brake in the HUD releases them and the in cab indicator shows OFF. Tried restarting and clearing cache but no better. Any ideas?

Unlock reverser and cancel aws. Make sure you hold down the off button for a couple of seconds, you should hear a click to say it's off. Click or turn dra off, place reverser into forward, close doors if open, wait for door interlock to appear and you should be able to then move.

Just a little point to remember on the sound side, you need to remember with the 442 that you are basically driving a mark 3 coach with a cab on it. The mark 3 has superior sound proofing compared to a normal unit and the only sound you would hear will be track sound and rail grind. The only time you would hear any motor type noises would be any reverb from tunnel walls etc.

When these units were released they were a very modern and advanced unit for their time compared to other stock, certainly comfort and ride ability.

there is nothing complicated with the additions that richard has implemented in the sound pack

heres the kev method

pull the selector to neutral - cancel the alarm with the aws reset - then engage to forward setting

push the brake handle to full application

unlock the handbrake using / button until the display reads off

doors closed...interlock on, DRA off...brake off, notch one on power and off you go

its not rocket science -

well thats how i operate the unit anyway

Hi
Thanks Jasvick. When I held the park brake button for a few seconds it did work and no buzzer. Using the HUD to release the brakes doesnt and I know it says this pack doesn't work with the HUD. Anyhow all is now well.

I can't speak highly enough of Armstrong Powerhouse, the quality and value is off the scale. AP's soundpacks literally transform locomotives/units and makes the difference between driving them and enjoying them versus junk on the hard-drive.

For many of us, myself included, sounds form a major, if not the primary reason for having an interest in railways. When I grew up as a kid in Scotland hearing Mc37's roaring up the West Highland Line everyday I was awestruck. That unique sound is what drew me in. Raw power and a fearsome sound that just made you stop and look. The clattering sound of coaches and wagons banging against steel rails was also etched into the mind.

Thanks to AP, all that is recreated in full glory that you just don't get with default sounds. On occasion DTG might record engine sounds from a real loco but something goes wrong in their mixing process that just ruins it. AP gets it and is able to recreate not just the perfect engine/motor beat but also the general noise of a heavy machine moving on rails. AP's never ending quest for better quality and their accuracy over the pro-packs with in-cab sounds right down to fine detail such as the sound of the wiper switch being flicked, just completes the scene.

Although I love the Wherry Lines route, I'm absolutely delighted that AP have gone back to what they do best, incredible sound packs and engaging scenarios. Although they're a business, those of us with an ear for the sounds of the railway are blessed to have AP around. Imagine how poor the sim would be if we just had Kuju sounds??... Involuntary shudder...

Well said, I don't think I would still have an interest in this sim if AP wasn't around. I remember when the HST soundpacks were first produced back in the good-old days of 'Railworks', Changed the whole experience for me. Shame Paxman Valenta's have disappeared from mainline railways.

For me I can't run a unit unless it's had it sounds updated by AP, it really adds to the immersion. I've got loads of stock parked up waiting for sound packs, as the default sounds make my teeth grind. It's amazing how running with default DTG sounds at 100mph, bring back the power to idle and you hear....nothing, total silence, no wind resistance, no bogie run sounds, totally realistic. NOT.

Don't mention the default bogie sound *shudder* :o

Well you won't be buying this sound pack then I imagine as apparantly you can't hear motors etc in the cab so kind of defeats your point in having a swipe at dtg and trying to promote AP freely.

You aren't the only one! I purchased the Class 35 and 14 to run up the WSR, haven't even used them yet until the AP sounds are out!

I ran the HST the other day too after an update, and the default sounds were back, I wondered how I ever put up with the default bogies sounds, all that creaking and random banging sounds drove me up the wall!! I was straight out of there to put the AP sounds back in, and that made it much better to the ears!
