It's great that people support AP and enjoy his stuff and let the world know here on UKTS and other forums. But at the same time some people have brought AP's stuff and are not happy with it and don't they have the same right to say so ? As it stands we can't really judge the 442's sounds as they are not released. Just as we can't say if he can really do a better 395 sound pack.

Saying that Rosschris's comments are slander depends on your point of view. Perhaps this is something AP and Rosschris will have to talk about in private away from others putting in their 2 pennys worth.

may i just add there is nothing to talk about. I own some of AP sound packs and i bought them because i felt DTG offerings were poor enough for me to purchase the AP sound packs and the ones i do own i bought after reading reviews and watching youtube videos and tbh i am really happy with them. At no point did i say the AP offering was of poor quality or not good how can i judge a product not even released yet??

My point was that i dont think it would be worthwhile of AP's time and patience to develop a class 395 Sound-pack as DTG have used a real class 395 to work there model ( i admit i do not know the ins and outs of how a sound-pack gets made or recorded so that side of things i cant comment on) but i would feel that AP as a company/developer would focus on a much more needed product to enhance that and spend there time making that rather than time on something that could be done on the side line as and when time permitted that was my point

Personally I think DTG sounds are decent and much better than they were but I do think AP adds a bit more detail to the sounds and the driving experience, I have most of AP's sounds packs and am looking forward to what he brings out in the future.

I don't know why someone should get criticised for being pro-DTG, the same people don't speak out against the many anti-DTG comments. I wouldn't say he was exactly criticising AP anyway.

Nowhere did I say I wasn't pro-DTG.
It seems to me that every discussion about an AP product the negativity comes from rosschris.

I personally think a lot of 'original' sounds that come with DLC are extremely good - some more so than others admittedly - but the fact I drive the 442 a fair amount must surmise that I like it. :)

A sensible suggestion Merlin75 but knowing the history, I doubt it would be useful. This thread is meant to be about the forthcoming AP pack not who's sounds are better etc, when it is released you have a choice, buy or not buy.If you feel someone is constantly making digs, you can report the post, and I would also suggest you go to control panel and mark them as a foe, that way you won't have to see their remarks if you are logged in. A better alternative to a ban or other punative action. It works for me. Personally I am looking forward to the pack.

For the record slander is defamation by the spoken word, libel is defamation in writing. Making an allegation that someone is slanderous or libellous could in itself be slanderous or libellous if it damages that person's reputation and it is untrue! If the person takes the matter to court it is up to the person making the remarks to prove they are true. As this site knows only too well it's a legal minefield since innocently repeating slanderous or libellous comments someone else has made can make you guilty as well.

not negative in anyway i admire the AP sound packs i have and actually enjoy driving trains i never used to thanks to there sound pack

this has been blown way out of proportion imho.

I also love the 442 it is unique and really a great external looking model and has the right feel to it so i agree there and drive it a fair bit. Now all we need is the line from weymouth to give it a right got bash along the metals :D

holzroller wrote:One option if you have the space on your hard drive is to rename Railworks to OldRailworks, download a fresh installation and use one for your mods and keep one as a vanilla version. It's what I do, takes literally seconds to change the folder name according to what you wish to run. Other option is to use mod enabler or something similar if you don't have the space for a dual installation, a lot of people on the German forums use this.
Renamed as suggested and apart from a Disk Write Error when I tried to do a fresh clean install overnight all seems to be going to plan...so far.

The 442 Sound Pack may well be back on the wishlist menu, as well as the reinstall of many of Richard's 'leccy sound packs and upgrades. :D

Off topic of course, but a disk write error always sounds worrisome to me... Might be a good idea to start backing up files and preparing yourself for having to replace that disk..?

From experience, sometimes the disk error is Steam related rather than hardware related. But a quick check of the disk with the relevant tools never goes amiss. Remember when there is an update the you will need to choose which folder gets updated, the plain vanilla can easily be updated by a file verification, the modded one is not so easy. With the possible exception of the big yearly update you might want to make sure that the modded folder is updated, and the plain you verify. The yearly one I generally hold off the update a few days to see what issues arise.

Thanks

My plan was to run online for my clean install and just make sure I'm offline when I change the folders names to use the 'dirty' version.

I hope the Disk Error is a Steam issue. I keep getting it and can't find a way of cancelling the update/download to be able to run TS.

My HD is only 6 months old, my PC is only 11 months old.

**Update - I found that the repeated Disk Write Error was a result of the first Error. The first instance must've corrupted a file it had downloaded to the 'Steam/Steaapps/Downloading' folder and with every attempt, the file wasn't being replaced and causing the continued issue. My work around was to rename the '24010' folder and all the .patch files in the 'Downloading' folder before attempting the update of 5.5Gb and it ran though with no issues**
:D
