Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
Hi Again Gary
I give up ! No sign whatsoever of the route in my sim.
Does one have to have the original version of the route installed, for this one to work ?
Cheers

Hi,
This download requires the Edinburgh to Glasgow route, available from the Steam Store. Copied from DP Simulations route section, near the bottom of the page.

Yes of course! You don't? Darren hasn't created a new route with all-new assets. He has cloned the existing route and extended it. Distributing the whole original route would be infringing copyright and effectively pirating. How could you expect it to work without having the original route?shinymac wrote:Hi Again Gary

Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
Best thing might be to delete folder a2140f35-1846-4c48-b9d4-6ae8bb89888d from your routes folder and start again, and then (or otherwise) I suggest you unsubscribe from the route and then resubscribe.
Sometimes I have found with Workshop content that I have to do the un-sub/sub routine perhaps several times for any actual update/download to take place. Plus if you do decide to delete the route as it is now, then a reappearance of the above folder thereafter would at least indicate a download has taken place.
Just to clarify as others have already done so, you don't anything other stuff other than the original route for this update to function.

Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
I'd cut the route folder out and paste it somewhere safe rather than delete it--OK, it doesn't seem to *work* but it's a starting point. Do you have a RouteProperties.xml file in there Derek?
Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
Hi All
Apologies, but the wording of my question relating to having "the original route" was badly worded.
I have always had the original Edinburgh to Glasgow route on my sim. But I don't have the original version of the "extended scenery" for the Edin-Glas route.
So..to sum up...I have the default original Edinburgh to Glasgow route, and all I have done is download the Steam workshop version of the extended route to Carstairs etc. The extended route GUID folder HAS installed correctly into my content/routes folder and shows up there ok. But the route doesn't show at all in RW Tools or in the Sim.
Thanks for being patient with my probs guys. I don't know about xml files etc ?
Cheers

Hi Derek.
On the basis a picture is worth a thousand words.
Find attached what you should be looking at for a finished installation.

Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
EUREKA !! I FOUND THE ROUTE !
The clue was in J102h3n4's screenshots.....When I saw them it dawned on me that the basic route extension available through STEAM workshop includes only QUICK DRIVE options. In my sim I had only checked out the "STANDARD" scenario option screen. Doh !
As soon as I chose "QUICK DRIVE" the route showed up, and was driveable. Weyyyyy !
Thanks to everyone for their unfailing help with my prob, but to end with I have a couple of queries relating to it...
1 For John....Where did you obtain the two (presumably standard) scenarios entitled ""1A69" and "2N75" from please ? Do they cover any of the route between Carstairs and Haymarket ? (I guess maybe not)
2. I chose a Scotrail "domino" liveried Class 170 for my test drive, but although the "in cab" view worked ok...there was no outside view of the train apart from its couplings ! I presume I am missing a reskin...can anyone advise ?
3. Has there been any standard scenarios created, on STEAM or UK Trainsim yet..that covers the Carstairs to Haymarket section of the route ?
Thanks again everyone for all your help.
Now..who is going to create a Wavereley to Glasgow Central High Level via Carstairs scenario for us all...providing the route can be merged with WCML North ? Lol.
Regards
Derek

Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
The scenario 1A69 is UKTS 35210 & 2N75 35180. As these scenario's were produced prior to the ext to Carstairs I doubt very much they go anywhere near that location.
Have fun.

Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
Love the route extension. Certainly goes well with the Class 380 and 156. I heard a user is creating a modern version of the WCML North route with merging of routes round about. Can anyone confirm this as I'd love to take a Pendolino for a spin between Edinburgh and Carlisle

Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
Merging is not possible, as the 2 routes have totally different route origins. WCML-N is 54.8906</Lat> -2.9331</Long> = Carlisle, Cumbria, whereas Edin-Glas is 55.9847</Lat> -3.71495</Long> = Polmont near FalkirkHodgerito wrote:Love the route extension. The North Clyde lines I suspect were built using the WCML origin with a view to merging after production.

Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
Hi Hodgerito. I'm the one creating a modern version of the WCML North route. Unfortunately I won't be able to merge the route the the Edinburgh to Glasgow route for the same reason Brysonman46 has stated - the point of origins have to be the same which they are not in this case. On the bright side when completed (eventually!) you will be able to take your Class 320 on a suburban run on the newly electrified Whifflet Line so it's not all badHodgerito wrote:Love the route extension. Re: DP Simulation Ed-Glas Carstairs Extension
Hi Jon
Thanks for the info re the scenarios. As you say, they dont cover the Haymarket to Carstairs section unfortunately.
Once again, can anyone advise if there are any standard scenarios already created, for the above section of route ? Or is anyone currently creating one ?
Cheers
Derek
