Class 91 Enhancement Pack - UKTS 35230

Post by chrisonline »

I didn't download the first version of this, so I don't know if this is a problem that has crept into the newly uploaded v1.1, which adds the option of using or not using the sounds from the AP Class 90 Pack.

The problem: the DSD seems to be permanently turned OFF. I have tried installations both with and without the sounds from the AP Class 90, and the problem applies to the original RSC Intercity model, as well as East Coast and Virgin reskins. No amount of toggling (with shift + Num Enter) turns the DSD on or off (though the pop up message appears), and it is just stays OFF, right from the get-go. No DSD sounds, and no jamming on the brakes (just in case anyone suggests the sounds are missing but the function of emergency brakes is still working)

I assume the problem lies in the Class91_DSD.lua file, in the Class91\Default\CommonScripts\Class files Folder, but with multiple layers of IF...THEN and cross-referenced boolean logic switches, I have blown my mind trying to work it out! And failed :( The Inputmapper file might also be the culprit, but I have tried all permutations of 0 and 1 in the settings for DSDOnOff, to no avail.

I cannot track down an email for AnOrange, the uploader, otherwise I would write direct to him

Anyone else having this problem?

As most people who operate the Off switch for a reason, ie they don't want it on, not being able to put it back on does not seem to be a problem.

You could try sending a PM to AnOrange in the other thread?

Ha! I looked all through that thread and still missed his link. Thanks, I have now PM'd him

FYI, the DSD is never on - it's off right from the start, so it's not a case of turning it off but not being able to turn it back on.

Not a major "thing" but I like to keep the DSD on as a "realistic" feature, though it's handy to turn it off to do some out-of-the-cab sightseeing.

Sorry, I don't seem to have PMs enabled yet. I just tried it and it seems to work for me. :S
If you press shift+enter does the message change between Enabled & Isolated in the corner?
The only other thing I can think of is the alarm is delayed by some inputs, so if you are adjusting the power a lot it won't kick in.

Yes, the popup messages appear immediately, each time it is toggled. Even a delay doesn't explain it, I did a 15/20 min run without any DSD sound, and with no emergency braking, making sure the toggle was "DSD enabled"

As I never tried the original version, do you still have it? It would be useful to try that, to see if the change came about with v1.1

Try a run but leave the loco running at a fixed speed and if you don't touch the power/brakes or cancel the AWS then, in theory, it should sound after a minute.

Something else comes to mind where a patch was done for the Class 91 to extend the time between dsd sounds so you could go outside. Was that patch released and did you get it?

Yep, done that. In fact just did it again, a steady 50 MPH using the cruise control, let it run for over 5 minutes, touched and moved nothing, didn't even touch the mouse or keyboard . . but no DSD sounded, no emergency brakes kicked in (after which I toggled the Shift + Num Enter to make sure that it had been enabled).

You second point - no, never heard of that patch, and certainly haven't installed it (but having looked at the script, it seems that would be a simple edit to the .lua file)

Very strange. Not the biggest problem in the world, or even in the Sim . . . just one of those irritations that keep me awake at night :)

There's also the edit to have the sounds audible whilst outside the cab.

Sorry, I don't have a copy of 1.0 (my mistake), but the DSD code wasn't changed and if the message is popping up it's clearly loading properly.
My suggestions would be to Clear Cache in the game, and/or delete the Blueprints.pak in the Assets\RSC\Class91Addon folder.
If that fails, either re-extract the files, or run my included patcher and press "Patch All", to make sure the .bin files are up to date (it's safe on patched files).

Very confusing because if it says DSD Enabled, it means the variable is set for it to start doing the DSD stuff, so I don't know why the timer isn't working for you.

Personally for me this is the greatest mod since sliced bread. I hate DSD and constantly having to be wary of the alarm and brakes constantly applying or having to keep pressing "Q" to avoid the damn thing going off. I just want to drive trains and enjoy the different cam views. I have finally got to enjoy driving the class 91! For me , I say a big thank you.

It works nicely for me. The DSD is sounding only after a period of inactivity as it should. If it helps, I'm using the AP90 version.
