Odd failure to crash to desktop (!)

Post by tnleeuw01 »

I just had the weirdest crash ever in TS16...

There was a popup that it failed to write temp dump file - such errors happen from time to time. Too bad, but such is life. Usually it means a crash to desktop, game over.

However!

The game didn't actually crash! The train kept running! I could still use all the controls of the train! I could not make a screenshot anymore, but I could do just about everything else!
Until I reached the end of the tile on which I was driving, and the world became nothing but bare terrain - textured, hills, but no objects except for the track, and track infrastructure.
Sometimes there was a crossover, but no roads.
No more OHLE, but the train kept running.

Only when I decided to quit the QD scenario, the program actually hung and had to be killed.

Never had any crash like that!

I experienced the exact same thing, also for the first time, yesterday on the South London & Thameslink route from the Steam workshop.
