DTG Class 68

Re: DTG Class 68
I have just purchased this pack and I think it is pretty good. A couple of questions:
In normal use would the dynamic brake or air brakes be used? Is it different for the Scotrail trains and say a ballast working? I've been able to more or less stop using both (obviously just down to 3mph with dynamic).
Has anyone been able to reduce power using the mouse when it is at full power? I can apply it up to full OK but can't reduce power unless I use the keyboard down to about half power before the mouse works again. This is using the cab controls.

Re: DTG Class 68
I use the dynamic brake to slow down gradually and the more effective train air/blended brake to slow down more quickly. I can use the mouse to power down from full power, but the area on the power handle where the mouse works is very precise, very top right from memory.

Cheers. I have gently waved the mouse over every part of the power controller in full power and the hand never appears so can't explain that! I'll just have to use the d key to reduce power before taking over with the mouse I guess.lenfish wrote:I use the dynamic brake to slow down gradually and the more effective train air/blended brake to slow down more quickly. Are you using the original cab camera view? I've moved mine back a bit so don't know if that's why I can still use the mouse with the power handle on full. Another possibility is that the HUD is overlapping the power handle when its on full. That sometimes stops the mouse from working.

Re: DTG Class 68
Sorry if this has been covered before, but will the DTG Class 68 operate push/pull with the AP Waggonz Mk3 DVT (univeral ).
If so, it would be very useful in the Chiltern repaint version for the "Chiltern Mainline & The West Midlands" route i.e UKTS 33676

Bought the Class 68 and answered my own question. Yes it does work with the Mk 3 DVT !
The DRS and Chiltern reskins are very good.
Overall the loco is excellent with some good features. However there does not seem to be any cruise control or speed set ? Surely the original will have such a feature ?
Re: DTG Class 68
Hi, yes I am using the original view. I don't have any HUD info displayed when driving so this won't be the issue. Looks like moving the cab view has solved the problem for you! I think I will leave it alone and live with the slight annoyance of pressing the d key.lenfish wrote:Are you using the original cab camera view? Re: DTG Class 68
Hi all,
I have a problem with setting up the tail lights on the Class 68 when using two 68's in a top-and-tail formation.
Is there a set procedure to setting up the lights on the leading and trailing locomotives because every time I try to enable the tail lights on the rear Class 68, when I switch back to the leading Class 68, rear lights change to match the setting on the leading locomotive, if that makes sense.
Does anyone know where I am going wrong?
Many thanks.

I've had the same issue, i gave up in the end, i don't think that its possible to have the tail lights on on the rear loco when top and tailing. I could be wrong mind.sn5775 wrote:Hi all,

Re: DTG Class 68
Today I discovered a text file in the Class 68 folder which is logging distance driven, average speed and engine hours amongst other things. It has entries for each unique running number be they default, or a reskin.

Re: DTG Class 68
It seems a bit hit and miss and the set up, when it works , seems to sometimes revert to pre-set up state during a scenario ( when paused or saved possibly ? )TElsmore wrote:sn5775 wrote:Hi all,

However, I have found that if you set your driven loco to front lights only ( first position on the switch after "off" ) then go to the rear cab of the trailing loco and set the lamps to tail lights only ( last one, I think, on the switch ), this usually works to give you white lights on the front of the driven loco and tail lights on the rear of the trailing loco.
I have also found that this same procedure works to set up the lights on the trailing DVT or trailing 68 when producing a Chiltern Mainline Class 68 /Mk3 DVT UNI ( or one set to Diesel ) push and pull set. Again this set up sometimes fails during a scenario, but it does work. I have driven from Moor Street to Marlyebone ( DVT in the lead ) and in the opposite direction ( Class 68 in the lead) with the correct lights showing all the way.
Re: DTG Class 68
I've also had issues setting head and tail lights. Since then, I've discovered that if you use 'H' to cycle through the different configurations, you can see what's happening on the right hand screen in the cab. (The birds eye view of the loco will show you which lights are set on the active loco.) The white headlight repeaters are difficult to see unless you zoom in.
From memory, the switch position before just the tail lights results in having both ends lit. Pressing 'H' again will extinguish the headlights at the rear, leaving just the tails on at the front. The front being which ever end you're sat in!
I can confirm that it is possible to run TnT with headlights at the front and tails at the rear.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for that Matt and Springer6, i will have a bit more of a play. To be honest, i'm liking the 68 a lot, its a brilliant effort from DTG imho. To be honest though, i personally feel that the external engine sounds are a little too quiet. Can anybody tell me if and how i can increase the volume of them please?
Cheers

Can anyone confirm if their DSD is not functioning? I press the key to activate/deactivate it, and the pop up notification box is blank.

Is there a Chiltern reskin available for the DVT - I saw the stock but could not find a matching DVT.Springer6 wrote:Bought the Class 68 and answered my own question. If so, it would be very useful in the Chiltern repaint version for the "Chiltern Mainline & The West Midlands" route i.e UKTS 33676. So off to Birmingham from Marlyebone soon.
The DRS and Chiltern reskins are very good.
