At a guess, because they were the first generation, steam traction was still running on the SR and so they needed to be dual-braked or be able to pilot steam-heated stock.

That is probably not the real reason though and I am not an expert.

The 73/0 had two sets of multi working cables, one on each side. I think they found with use that only one set was required and the production 73/1 locos only had the one set.
Nothing to do with train Brakes as the locos are Dual Braked.

Main reason was for coupling to Sr. Slam door stock. Usually the pipes were connected on the side of which they would be split from, so that the driver/shunter etc would not have to risk falling through or getting near the juice rails. Stations like Victoria and waterloo had and still have in places special offside ramps for this purpose as the method is defiantly still in use with 455s. It also provided a back up should one set fail.

But you don't have two sets of MU Jumpers on an EMU so you don't need them on a 73 - as they found out with the 73/1.

Release date may be coming close seeing that achievements for this pack are up on Steam.

As previously posted If you run my scenario uploaded a few days ago using the old model you can get an 'Achievement unlocked 'BR Class 73 : Traction Pace' for a model that has been completely re-built from the rails up and hasn't been released yet..

There was a free bonus Class 73 included in the Class 33 package from he who can not be named here, before his real class 73 package was released. Was that 73 driveable or not?
'Why is it that the railway station is so far away from the village?'
The local pauses for a while, then replies:
'They thought it would be a good idea to build it next to the railway line.....'

It was but it had no cab - at least in the version I had before buying the stand alone pack.

The was a brake fault on the normal pack but a fiddle with the bin files cured that.
Don't know about the GatEx though.

PLease please please tell me they are NOT going to release this loco with the Number 73285 ??

There never WAS a Class 73 with that number !! Nor even anything LIKE it !

Please someone tell them to alter this number to one that was true to life.

Thanks !

With virtually all BR stock the Left Hand Door has the Window with a normal door handle, the Right Hand Door has the lever to release it from the body.
The door positions on the Right Hand Side are reversed :(

Peter
(as an ex train Guard it's something I noticed)
It would appear the original version has the same fault - looks as it's one that is carried forward instead of being fixed. :(

Pretty certain that seeing as there has been the option of dynamic numbering in this sim since day one, the user will be able to number the loco to whatever they see as being acceptable.

The screenshots are labelled "work in progress" for a reason.

In theory, yes, in practice, I sometimes doubt it. Last week they posted a picture of the BR474.3 EMU labelled "Work in Progress" and the same day they released it.
