Hi
Just come across this route, designed by Richard Maxted.
The screenshots look fantastic and I cant wait to download it. However, some of the required assets (routes) are described as "York, Paddington and Bath" .
Can anyone tell me the exact names of these required routes please ? I didnt know there was a "Bath" route ?
Thanks
Derek

Yes, they are rather cryptic, aren't they!
- GWML/Great Western Main Line (RSC folder OxPadd)
- SDJR/Somerset & Dorset Railway (RSC Folder BathTemp)
- East Coast Main Line (RSC folder NewcYork)
All older "standards"

I have now downloaded and installed this route.
There only seems the option of a quick drive for the time being.
However....I cannot find the relevant narrow gauge locomotive to use on the route ! When I select "quick drive", the options as to where to start at come up fine, but I cannot find ANY narrow gauge steam loco or consists to use ?
Can anyone advise please ? I have tried using a Standard Gauge steam loco on the route, which DOES work..but err..doesnt look right at all. Lol
Thanks !
Derek

Derek,
There is no rolling stock provided with the route, and no scenarios other than the Quick Drive. But the excellent quality of the route makes up for that! And the nature of the route means that setting up a couple of Free Roams with your own stock dotted around the route allows for endless possibilties of "free play" to create your own activities.
To get you started, I suggest you search in the UKTS file library - Download Search - with Author "Richard Maxted" (and select for Train Simulator 2013" - don't worry about the date, it's not updated!)
There, you will find Richard's own Kerr Stuart Skylark loco model (with several variants), the Lister Auto Truck, plus quite a few items of rolling stock including the beautiful LMVR coaches with variants and various wagons
There is also Kevin Martin's (KngTrains) Corris locos (UKTS 18594 & 18520) and his Hunslet Britomart v2 (UKTS 19009) which Richard Maxted has updated (UKTS 32419,) again giving several variants
Steve Pontin's diesel Talyllyn loco, Merseysider, is designed to go with his Talyllyn Route (see further below) but is available as a free download (UKTS 31941)
Check out UKTS 34737, Darjeeling stock pack by Richard Scott. Not exactly "British" style but another variation in loco and coaches for you.
But the best overall selection of 2'3" narrow gauge rolling stock comes with the Talyllyn Railway by Steve Pontin. This is payware and only available, on CD, via the website
http://www.sptalyllyn.co.uk/Downloads.html, price £9.99 for the UK,
but I can't recommend it enough. It also has had updates, improvements and extra reskins created by Richard Maxted which are available as free downloads both on the same website, or in UKTS (but require the base payware models).
Not sure I've covered everything, but that lot should keep you busy for a while!
Chris

Hi Chris
Thanks for the very informative reply.
I have already downloaded any narrow gauge locos I could find on UKTS, including those that you mention. But I havent a clue how to "create my own free roams" !! If its anything that involves using the "edit" button on the Trainsim screen, then I can forget it. As I am suffering from the same problem as others on here, in that as soon as I choose a light engine and wish to create a consist to go with it, my system crashes to desktop ! So in other words I am unable to create any consists of my own. (to date I havent found anyone who can explain how to cure this very annoying problem)
Or does creating a free roam scenario involve a different method ?
Thanks
Derek

Thanks for the full reply Chris,
Glad to hear you got the route installed OK. You are right there are only quick drive consists for the route and no stock supplied. The purpose of the route is to provide the layout for you to run the stock you have on. For this reason there wasn't much purpose in providing scenarios as they depend so much on the stock one has whereas a quick drive will use the stock you have.
The other advantage to not providing stock, is to keep the route, the assets, and the stock as all separate items. As you will discover I am an inveterate fiddler - as I discover new things when I build stock I tend to go back and correct/add to old stock. For instance, the next thing will probably be either (a) an upgrade to the route to include my cars in various locations and/or (b) the new loco I am working on...slowly.
When you download my stock and Steve P's Tallylyn you will find they come with consists so that you can then use quick drive. The Quick drives are also populated with static stock so you can do shunting etc.

Hi Steve
Sorry to be a pain, but to clarify my position at present... I have your route downloaded which looks fine. I have downloaded and installed yours, and any other narrow gauge locomotives from UKTS. BUT...if I select "quick drive", and then select a locomotive to use on that quick drive....NONE of my narrow gauge locos show up in the panels of locos to drive ! All that shows up are all my STANDARD gauge locomotives !
So what have I done wrong ? From your reply it seems that all I have to do is select quick drive, select one of your narrow gauge locos, and away we go...but this ISNT the case !
Help !
Derek

Hi Gary
Thanks for the reply, and I will watch the tutorial in the near future.
For the time being I have decided to delete all references to the Leek and Manifold Route, as it was locking up each time I tried to load it.
My installation of Trainsim is in the D:Games/Steam/Steamapps etc folder.
Thanks for offering to help anyway.
Regards
Derek

I have been utterly delighted by the L & MLR - this has become my fave route on TS2016 - I'm a bit of a narrow gauge fan and really must acquire Tallylyn pretty soon. Strangely - my favourite route for MSTS is also by L&MLR author Richard Maxted - the wonderful Cross Fell which I miss... I live but 30 minutes by motorcycle from this wonderful place (the real one) - and am a frequent visitor - gunning my bike up the same valley that the simulation takes me.
I think this will be my second ever post - and I have to admit it's really made in hope that Mr Maxted himself might be interested in my TS2016 route... a NG journey to Yorkshire Dams - though neither the same Dams or indeed the same epoch as "Cross Fell". It feels like I've carted the Leek and Manifold out of Staffs and moved it brick by brick to Yorkshire, so even a thankyou opportunity would be welcome.
Best Wishes
