AP 421/422/423 sound pack - guard's whistle?
Does anyone know if the AP 421/422/423 pack has a guard's whistle when closing doors, like the default DTG sounds? I didn't see it mentioned in the description or the video (as for example in the Mk1/2 pack).

There is a bell from the guard instead as this is how these units operated.
Hope that helps!

I see. Had hoped there was a whistle, too.
Thanks for the quick reply.

A guard blowing a whistle wasn't compulsory.
If the station was sufficiently staffed then a platform attendant could give the right away.

Impossible to rule out completely but standard operation was with the bells. I would suggest your model railway possibly isn't prototypical.rosschris10 wrote:i think they did have guards with whistles i have one on my 00 gauge layout with DCC sounds and it is a guard whistlephat2003uk wrote:There is a bell from the guard instead as this is how these units operated.

Allot has changed these days then as all guards i see on trains on all company's all blow a whistle even when platform staff are there so the rules must have changedxguerra wrote:A guard blowing a whistle wasn't compulsory.

I know what you mean, It's the platform dispatcher whistling to the guard - then the guard 'sends 2' to the driver.groundhog wrote:Does anyone know if the AP 421/422/423 pack has a guard's whistle when closing doors, like the default DTG sounds? It's not modelled in the AP 421/422/423's
I cant think of hearing the whistle apart from the Mk1/2 pack

That's what I really like about the Mk1/2 pack. I know it's a minor thing, but I guess but the child in me just loves hearing a whistle before departing the station.

To be pedantic (just for a change
) a whistle was, and still is, only a means of drawing the train staff's attention to the fact that something is quite likely to happen---in this case the green flag/'right away' board. Any driver who took a whistle to be the cue to move the train would soon be an ex-driver.
