Re: AP Anounce Wherry Lines
Purchased, installed and ran a few times - absolutely terrific, with loads of detail and realism. One one thing - none of the three scenarios I've ran so far feature any weather, just clear, uniform blue cloudless skies. Anyone else finding this?

Re: AP Anounce Wherry Lines
Hmmm - contrary opinion on price coming up.
Looking at what has come with the route and having spent some time on two of the scenarios this morning my opinion is that Richard could have justified charging far more than £29.99.
In terms of satisfaction, with logical starts and ends, additional stock, attention to detail (and very high detail at that) I think it stands up very well to the best that DTG and other providers have produced (as good as those routes are) and, in my opinion, exceeds for immersion and overall "putting you in the driver's seat".
Fantastic work - I am in a position to be able pay full price for this beautiful route, for which I am thankful, but there is no doubt that it will be above the price range for many. AP do have sales from time to time though, with good discounts, which I am certain will go close to being easier to meet.

Cheers Ash. Clear weather does feature quite a bit but there should be a good number of scenarios with other conditions. The weather is usually mentioned in the scenario description so check that out as a guide.ashgray wrote:Purchased, installed and ran a few times - absolutely terrific, with loads of detail and realism. Re: AP Anounce Wherry Lines
Caveat - I don't have the route at the moment, because of financial issues, but I think that the asking price is reasonable.
A few people have already said that the route is too short for the price, I would respectfully counter that while it is shorter than a DTG route for the same price, or indeed a JT route, it contains, in my opinion at least, a fair greater level of detail and has (again in my opinion) some of the finest scenery quality in a route to date. I guess it comes back to quantity versus quality, whether a person would like a long but less detailed route over a shorter but greatly detailed route. One also has to remember that the Wherry lines is a tad harder to scenery in many places because you can't focus purely on the area around the cab view drivers line of sight because the place is so flat that the line of sight covers miles.
Then there's the sounds, which when given APs reputation you already know are going to be top notch, there's a reworked class 37 thrown into the mix with stock provided.
That's a significant amount of work put into the route, and I think that the price is reflective of this and rightfully so. I hope that AP considers future extensions to the route sometime, perhaps the East Suffolk Line...
but in the meantime I must congratulate Richard and all at AP for a route well done.
I also look forward to Fakenhams version of the route which looks to be of a similar quality and will make for a fantastic companion.

I will be acquiring the route in due course without doubt, but for people concerned about the price:
You are not compelled to purchase

Love the Route - have waited so long for this- looks very good-worth the price -have run some QD's
However can't get the class 37 to move - is there something I'm not doing extra to normal controls ie WS -AD & ;'?
NB would love the cathedral to have a better spire

Turn the DRA off with "Y"
I had the same issue.

Really captures the atmosphere.
To those put off by the price, don't be. Trust me if DTG released the class 37 that AP and his team have 'reworked', you'd all pay £11.99. Don't get me wrong it is a rework, but the acceleration is much better, brakes are better and it has spot on sounds. The MK2's are full of detail and are well built. The signals are well built and an added bonus would be the sound.
The route is excellent. I'm not suprised its taken a year!
Definitely worth the price.

Bought it, ran it, amazed!
As others have said, magnificent piece of work and the audio is top notch. Well pleased with this, thanks to AP

Don't forget the "Y" to turn off the DRA (and "Z" to start the engine of course).clarke wrote:Love the Route - have waited so long for this- looks very good-worth the price -have run some QD's

Re: AP Anounce Wherry Lines
No problem.
Well I caved despite the €40 (luckily had all the necessary DLC) and am enjoying this route. There is definitely value to be had in the 25 scenarios provided, but would have liked more rolling stock driving variety (e.g. a few for the 153). I'm sure the promised scenario packs will provide!

Re: AP Anounce Wherry Lines
But, Rod, we have already had to fork out for 4 items of DLC which we were advised would be required to run this route fluently, which I personally completely disagree with, as it isn't usual policy to request folks to obtain DLC to run even more DLC, so, after acquiring £52 in route content, in Steam Sales, mind you, not full cost price which would have been £100, I now have to fork out another £30, so, in essence, this route has cost me a minimum £82, and could have been a possible £130, and to say folks think that is reasonable, possibly even justifiable, leaves me absolutely speechless.august1929 wrote:Hmmm - contrary opinion on price coming up.

Re: AP Anounce Wherry Lines
Well, that's true, but bear in mind only a small userbase of this game will have even heard of AP, let alone bought any of their products. I think AP are aware of who may well be interested in this route and know that they are, for want of a better phrase, seasoned users, and in all likelihood already own the requirements. Niche product for the connoisseur so to speakTransportSteve wrote: But, Rod, we have already had to fork out for 4 items of DLC which we were advised would be required to run this route fluently, which I personally completely disagree with, as it isn't usual policy to request folks to obtain DLC to run even more DLC, so, after acquiring £52 in route content, in Steam Sales, mind you, not full cost price which would have been £100, I now have to fork out another £30, so, in essence, this route has cost me a minimum £82, and could have been a possible £130, and to say folks think that is reasonable, possibly even justifiable, leaves me absolutely speechless.

Re: AP Anounce Wherry Lines
Just to add My little nugget, Transport steve you dont HAVE to buy it no body is making you or anyone else buy it, its personal choice, Luckily for me I had the requirements, but i did buy the ap/wagonz class 90 to run some of the scenarios, if i had, had to have bought another route that i did not have then i probably would not have bought it..................Today
.
I really can't see the problem if you want the detail in these top range routes, then assets must be pooled in from far and wide.
