44.9MB Update Today.
Received a 44.9MB update today via Steam. Details below:-
13/10/2015
Today we have released an update for the Class 455/8 Southern
Changelist:
Fixes to audio, art, setup and English and French Manauls.
DSD fixed
Coupling to 456
Refresh of scenarios to fix tracks.bin following train fixes.
The size of this download is 23.1MB
---and---
13/10/2016
Today we have released a small update for the Köln - Koblenz route for Train Simulator 2016
Changelist:
- Fixed route markers for all languages except English.
This update is around 2.2mb in size.
---and---
09/10/2016
We have now released an update for the Union Pacific Gas Turbine for Train Simulator 2016 that addresses a number of problems reported by our users.
In this update the following issues have been resolved:
- Couplers missing between tender and B Unit.
- Tender the wrong way around in scenarios and consist.
- Audio cutting out to quickly when moving backwards down the consist from the Turbine (Partial fix due to software limitations).
- Throttle difficult to control in 3D cab.
- Missing doppler effect due to using stereo instead of Mono sounds
This update is around 16.2mb in size and will download automatically upon the launching of Train Simulator 2016.
I'm guessing the last one has only just downloaded today, otherwise their figures for the update size is wrong.
And the (mis)spelling in the 455/8 bit is their doing - not mine!

Those who are running in a language other than English may disagree.TransportSteve wrote:totally unimpresed, a complete waste of time from what I can see.

I didn't mean that Gary, why have they uploaded a 245mb content.ap file when the only thing they have changed, according to the DTG message, are the language files that only take up several kb's???gptech wrote:Those who are running in a language other than English may disagree.TransportSteve wrote:totally unimpresed, a complete waste of time from what I can see.

Possibly because the contents of an archive can't be updated, you have to have the whole lot as it's technically/arguably just one file.TransportSteve wrote:why have they uploaded a 245mb content.ap file.........

Here only 2.2 MB downloaded. Maybe you received an update for any other content.TransportSteve wrote:I didn't mean that Gary, why have they uploaded a 245mb content.ap file when the only thing they have changed, according to the DTG message, are the language files that only take up several kb's???gptech wrote:Those who are running in a language other than English may disagree.TransportSteve wrote:totally unimpresed, a complete waste of time from what I can see.

On the other hand, if only need to update a files of a few kb's, as everything is packaged in 'ap', it is necesary to download the full 'ap' package.

Re: 44.9MB Update Today.
Well,
don't know if this is a result of the Col-Koblenze update to markers. But on trying the scenario "Regional Express" using the DB BR146.I find I can stop at the first stop, load passengers , the timer counts out and I can then move onto the next stop. But here the timer (i.e the red progress bar), does not reset and hence no tick for this stage. If I then ignore this and move onto the third stop, cannot find the right place to stop and trigger the door opening sequence.
Trouble is cannot remember where I got this scenario from, checked the workshop subscriptions doesn't seem to be there, is not listed as being bundled with the route. All I do know is , I did not have these problems last night whilst trying this scenario.
Regards JohnT

Re: 44.9MB Update Today.
According to Mike Simpson, Steam/DTG can replace individual components of .ap files. It is not necessary to replace the whole file.

Mine was 2.2mb. I see mine was just the Koblenz update. I agree with juanillo99 that transport steve must of got updates for something else.

Re: 44.9MB Update Today.
No, I think TransportSteve got only the 2.2 Mb Cologne-Koblenze update but he thought it was a 245 Mb download because that is the size of the MainContent.ap file after the update.
The Cologne-Koblenze update didn't involve downloading the whole 245 Mb MainContent.ap file. It involved downloading only 2.2 Mb of files and inserting them into the MainContent.ap file.

DTG has replaced the whole .ap file in their updates on more than one occasion.davidboase wrote:According to Mike Simpson, Steam/DTG can replace individual components of .ap files. It is not necessary to replace the whole file.

Re: 44.9MB Update Today.
How do you know that? Just because the .ap file has a recent time stamp doesn't mean that the whole .ap file has been downloaded. It seems to me that the only way to really tell is if one .ap file is affected and you can monitor your internet traffic closely enough to be able to tell that the amount of downloaded data is equal to the size of the full .ap file.Juanillo99 wrote:DTG has replaced the whole .ap file in their updates on more than one occasion.davidboase wrote:According to Mike Simpson, Steam/DTG can replace individual components of .ap files.
