Green Ticks Red Crosses
HI all,
I appreciate that that in ideal world the aim is when you complete a scenario is to get the green tick but if you fail the scenario on my setup you no longer get the red cross. So after a while I forget which scenario's I have attempted is this normal not to get a red cross if you fail the scenario in TS 2015.
Regards,
Pete.

Not sure Pete, I haven't had much time for a full run recently!
This doesn't help you at all but I thought someone ought to acknowledge the question at least.

No you don't get a red cross if you don't successfully complete a scenario. Only a green tick if you do. I think that once you did get red crosses though a few versions ago.

Hi All,
I'm still running on TS2014 (originally TS2012) where you still get green ticks and red crosses. I'm using TS2014 on the basis that "It it ain't broke, don't fix it" and it works fine; unlike some, who reported problems when upgrading.
I'll probably gets problems about upgrading next time I buy something from 'Steam'. So far, my extra 'stuff' has been from JustTrains.

Not if you make a duplicate installation and keep it offline, and copy over updated files from your other installdpettit wrote:Hi All,

I am also running TS 2014 as well as TS 2015, If you make a duplicate installation of TS 2014 then update to TS 2015/16 its not straight forward to just copy DLC back into TS 2014 you must also make a copy of the whole Steam folder of TS 2015/16 and merge this into your TS 2014 installation plus the new DLC that you have purchased, also remember that most of the DTG 2015/16 DLC will not run in 2014.
Why don't you make a copy of your TS 2014 installation then update to TS 2016, keep your TS 2014 always offline and add any new DLC to TS 2016 that way you have the best of both installations. Its not worth the trouble to try and get new DLC to run on TS 2014.

Pete.

Quite right Pete, sorry about that, I have TS2015 and 2016 running, and forgot about the issues of the newer DLC in TS 2014Bradforth wrote:Hi,atlasduff47 wrote:Not if you make a duplicate installation and keep it offline, and copy over updated files from your other installdpettit wrote:Hi All,

Re: Green Ticks Red Crosses
I have an older (test) computer that I upgraded to TS2015 but didn't like the front screens, as the scenario screen on 2014 is full screen, the 2015 version was a lot smaller and 'less nice'. I'll play with this computer and see how I get on with your suggestions. If successful, I'll go onto my main computer!

Not sure if I am right about this but I think some one has changed the TS 2015 splash screen plus UI to the TS 2014 setup.
Don't get to disappointed with TS 2015/16 now that all the little gripes have been sorted its seems fine to me of cause they are still some issues but nothing in my opinion to spoil the game.
But if you do purchase any new DLC your version will automatically update to 2016.

Pete.

Re: Green Ticks Red Crosses
The screens are very easy to customise, and you're not stuck with whatever DTG give you (from any TS version) as you can use whatever picture makes you smile the most.
..\RailWorks\data\textures\frontend\ui_splash_railsim.tga is the game's loading screen
..\RailWorks\data\textures\frontend\background.jpg is the menu background
..\RailWorks\data\textures\frontend\loading_external.jpg used to be what was displayed when scenarios were being loaded if the game couldn't connect to the internet, but this still seems to be non-functional.
There are probably more wee tweaks you can use, try searching in the forums for "TS loading screens" and I'm sure you'd find a more comprehensive listing of what does what.
If you want to use the older TS2015 style menus, just copy the
..\RailWorks\data\scaleform
and
..\RailWorks\data\textures\frontend
folders from your older version into TS2016---it'd be worthwhile copying and pasting the default folders to somewhere safe, or at least rename them by adding --TS2016 or something equally informative and descriptive to the folder name. (..\RailWorks\data\scaleform would become ..\RailWorks\data\scaleform--TS2016 for example)

Re: Green Ticks Red Crosses
That is no longer true today. That was so in TS 2014, but is no longer true in TS2015/16. The menu background image of TS2015 (and TS2016) is within a flash file, specifically in thegptech wrote:..\RailWorks\data\textures\frontend\background.jpg is the menu background
...\railworks\data\Scaleform\RS_2013_MenuSystemMaster.swf file. To change the background menu is necessary to edit that flash file.
PS: Try replacing the image 'background.jpg' by any other and see how you don't get any change in the menu.

Re: Green Ticks Red Crosses
Juanillo, when I get home from work I'll post my background.jpg in here for you. Possibly because I'm running offline/firewall the game doesn't grab any pics from the internet. All I no longer have is a nice image when scenarios are loading.

Maybe you're right, but I am commenting my own experience. I only got positive results if I edited that flash file.

Would you care to give some instructions for those who'd also like to edit their installation?Juanillo99 wrote: I only got positive results if I edited that flash file.
I've probably oversimplified things with the details of what files do what; it's been ages since I originally did it---the date stamp on the image files is 1/10/2013--but here's a couple of photos (apologies for the lousy quality) showing what I see.
