You're backing up to the van - meaning you'd need ctrl-tab to get clearance?
Also, you're sure that any switches are in correct position?

I haven't yet tried the scenario so I have no idea, but just some suggestions!

Thanks that did the trick. You forget about key commands that you don't use very often, although I think in the past getting clearance to reverse past signals has worked with just the tab key. :)

It always required a separate key, although in the past it used to be shift-tab, before the Steam-overlay in-game was introduced.

As Tim said, there were two separate commands.

TAB was right too, if the signal needing permission was ahead of the train/engine. Whilst, if it was behind the train/engine you would need the command Tim mentioned. I re-programmed either the command or the steam overlay to Ctrl+ Tab to, stop them both being used at the same time.

The scenario March Surprise really is a surprise as you don't know how well you are doing against the clock for about the 3 last waypoints until you have filled the loco up with water and then you have to move about 50ft to the station and stop, then the scenario ends.
