I don't like career scenarios anyway; takes the relaxed driving element out of the sim. So irritating when you lose so many points for being just slightly too fast at a speed restriction sign and such. If DTG feels some people need a 'challenge' then they should at least provide the scenarios in career AND standard and let us users decide if we need a 'challenge' or not. All new dlc only comes with career scenarios nowadays, that is 'utterly stupid' too imo.
And yes I know you can transform a career scenario into a standard scenario using RW tools, but why should we have to hassle with this.
Cheers,
Jos
I don't do the Career thing and as a matter of routine if I install a new route I pour myself a glass of red and spend a few minutes changing all career scenarios to standard (unless the provider has created both types) which does have the benefit of having all scenarios for a given route in one place; yeah, it is a bit of a pain to manually edit through RWTools but once it's done, it's done!
Every now and then I look and see if any recently installed career scenarios have slipped under the net - and convert them too. It doesn't take long using the XML editor in RWTools, still less time by copying the edited line of text from the first file and just pasting in all the other scenarios. And it gives me an excuse to crack open a bottle of plonk so it's not all bad!
Hi
I don't like the new system where every scenario's these days are Career mode,3rd party scenario's aren't so bad,but the ones that come with the route, can be a right pain it the - - - - ,and not every one is capable of changing them with RW tools,I can just about manage to swap stock and that's it,also that takes me ages to do.

Once again, if you turn off "Career Scoring" under Settings, you run them basically as a Standard Scenario.

True but not quite. The scenario still ends ('Game Over') when you pass a red signal (SPAD) but still better than that silly pointscounting. Career scenarios would be OK if the evaluation would not be so nitpicky and ending a scenario when you just slightly passing a signal at danger for example.
'Why is it that the railway station is so far away from the village?' The local pauses for a while, then replies: 'They thought it would be a good idea to build it next to the railway line.....'
Mike, if you can swap stock you're 3/4 of the way there. Exactly the same screen, just check the wee button thing on the left to change the scenario type. RW Tools will tell you that you can't so ignore it.

Can't you turn that off in the game options? You could in the past.
And a SPAD is a different animal to being 1 minute behind schedule. If that happens you either were careless or the signalling needs an overhaul. In steam era routes, you could point out lack of route knowledge, but for modern routes, you should get all the warnings you need at safe braking distance.

Yes under Settings you can turn off the 'Game Over' when passing a red signal, and in my settings it is switched off, but the SPADs still occur in a career scenario with the scoring switched off.
What I am really trying to say is that I do not need to compete with myself or other people for that matter when I drive trains. I am more into enjoying the landscape and the ride. I still like to drive as good as possible though, don't get me wrong. I can imagine that other people like the 'challenge' and for that reason I feel that DTG should provide both types, career and standard or the possibility to switch between types, with their (new) dlc and not just career type as is happening with all new dlc they put out for some time now.
Cheers,
Jos

Also, it would be good if in career scenarios it was actually possible to do them (as near) perfect as possible
without penalty.
I've just driven a 91 from Newcastle to York (1Y11 if anyone's interested).
Found I got penalised for passenger discomfort when rounding curves at 2-3mph LESS than the line speed.
Then South of Northallerton, although lineside signs and HUD show speed as 125, 124 is the actual limit,
so sitting at 125 penalises you again.
And then, to add insult to injury, arrived at the signal immediately outside York station some 2 mins early,
and would it clear? No way. Tab, Tab, Tab again - Denied. 3, 4 then 5 minutes passed so I purposefully
drove past the red just to get a SPAD and finish the game.
Whilst I don't use the points to compare with anyone (I've never had the rankings board actually show anything),
I do like to know how close to perfect I got on that particular drive.
Asus Z97-K. Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4 GHz. 3GB NVidia EVGA GTX780Ti. 16GB DDR3 RAM. Sound Blaster Z. Windows 10 64 bit.
2x960GB SSDs, 3x2TB internal HDDs and 2x1TB & 1x2TB external HDDs.
Running TS @ 3840x2160 on a 4k TV.

This is exactly what I mean. Very annoying.

Hi Mike,
Try opening a Career Scenario in RW Tools, and then Change it's name slightly (add a letter like S), then save the Scenario as a Standard one.
Job done.
You will have two Scenarios with almost the same names - Standard & Career.

Strange? I have both the 91 and ECML Route but I can't find this under Career Scenarios. What is the exact Scenario name, I'd like to give it a go?
Was this a DTG included scenario with either DLC?
