Waste of money for me.

This is very disappointing.
Had the free TS2016 installed and ran ok with no problems, then went ahead paid and had the upgrades installed Riviera Line in the Fifties with Castle Class, Koln-Koblenz, Gas Turbine Big Blow I already had the Sherman Hill Route.
Koln-Koblenze,installed and runs fine nice Route.
Riviera Line in the Fifties, goes to cab view in Castle Class then Route crashes even on lowest setting.
Sherman Hill which I already had will not load at all therefor Big Blow no show and definitely no go. The Route ran fine before the upgrades.
All my other Routes seem to run well on various settings on TS2016 except for the two above.
The upgrades a great disappointment for me should have spent the money at the local Pub and got more enjoyment with it.
PC specs as follows.
cpu Intel i7-4790.
Windows 10 Home Premium
nVidea GTX 960
Memory 8gig DDR3.
Cheers Bob.

I had a similar problem after the free upgrade (haven't yet purchased the full TS2016). Sherman Hill had problems loading, and after a few attempts with different scenarios, it loaded but was full of missing textures everywhere.
So, I went into Steam, DLC's, and disabled / uninstalled Sherman Hill, exited Steam, reloaded Steam, ticked to enable Sherman Hill, and it re-installed the Route. All was fine again after that.
Not sure if this is related to your problem, but might be worth a try.

It sounds to me indeed like a problem with corrupted assets.
The routes themselves should be perfectly playable on your setup, even on high settings.
I'd suggest a cache verify, perhaps some others files got corrupted as well, not just the files for those routes.

TS 2016 Steam Edition works fine for me. Done a scenario with Big Blow and one with the Castle on the Riviera.

Hi aussiebob
Do as mentioned above go into steam click train simulator in the little box that appears unstick the routes your having problems with. Let theme completely uninstall then re tick them one at a time until there all reinstalled then try see if it works which it should

Thanks for your replies to the problem,
All files validated and again downloaded the 2 Routes by unticking exciting then reticking them and still no joy.
My PC setup should blow the socks off with TS but doesn't, Intel i7-4790, Windows10,8gig Ram,nVidea GTX 960.
The only thing that I can see is the fact that the so called Computer Business that built the PC for me a few months back set it up as Windows 7 32bit instead of 64bit as was the written quote given for the job, I have spoken to them about that fact and was told they couldn't source any more Windows 7 64bit at that stage, a phone call to me explaining that fact and I would have stopped them going ahead and of course I was never told when I picked the finished PC up there was Windows 7 32bit installed until I looked a few days later. Peoples grab for money noes no boundaries.
Having a 32bit installed instead of 64bit would it affect TS so much with running the Sim?
Cheers, Bob.

Win32 bit???
You can never use more than 4Gb of RAM. Waste of the other 4Gb in your machine.
TS will suffer for lack of RAM.
I don't know why you wanted Win7 - Granted, the Win8 UI is worse, but OTOH Win8.1 isn't as bad anymore. Win8 and Win10 are quite a lot faster than Win7.
I'd suggest that no matter what, you'll get a copy of Win10 64 bit, wipe the machine clean if necessary, and do a full install of a 64 bit windows. (The upgrade from Win7 to Win10 is free! Microsoft doesn't charge you for this upgrade.)
Oh, and when re-installing Steam and your games (TS and other games), do not install to the Windows Program Files directory (C:\Program Files, C:\Program Files (x86) ). Choose an install-location for the Steam client like C:\SteamGames, for instance, or C:\Games\Steam.
(Or another drive, if C: is only for the OS, and you have another disk for games, data, etc etc).
I understand that this will be some effort, and I cannot quite guarantee that it will improve TS2016 for you, but it should make your computer happier overal and you can then finally use the full RAM which you bought.
Now, all that said, I do not understand why upgrading from TS2015 to TS2016 would cause such dramatic degradation of performance? Or do you only have performance issues with the new route & locos?
Good luck sorting things out,

Bob...did they supply you with a retail installation DVD?
The excuse that they couldn't source a 64 bit version is basically a word I can't use in a forum such as this, but it does sound a lot like the word used to describe those U shaped brackets fitted to rowing boats where the oars go---
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softwar ... d/windows7 all they needed to do was phone MS and request a valid 64 bit key.
As Tim has said, TS may not itself benefit greatly from a 64 bit OS as it's a 32 bit application, but under a 64 bit OS it will receive a full 4Gb of RAM for itself---that little bit extra plus the fact that Windows can merrily go about doing what it does without conflicting with that memory space will give you a much better experience.

That's is appalling they done that to you bob. Do you have paperwork that states you should have got a 64 bit system. If you have paperwork stating that I would demand the company fork out the bill for a new Windows disk with 64bit as that is what you agreed on and try didn't provide the agreed contract so to speak.

So are you now running Win10 32 bit?
I'm afraid youll need to fight the builder to get a valid 64 bit version of windows. Then Reinstall. you'll be running abaut 1 GB for TS on 32 bit. it will be paging data no and off the HDD causing LAG/crashed

Tell them you want a free copy of Windows 10 64 bit Home or Pro. As for the WIndows 7 64 bit that is a load of rubbish. Where I got my computer from in NZ they still have it.
https://www.computerlounge.co.nz/compon ... eid=16&t=4 Also having 8gb of ram is a waste of time with a 32bit system as you cannot use it all. They should of realised that.

You'll get a bit better performance with Windows 8 or 10, perhaps around 10 - 15 percent better FPS.

I doubt that. I am on Windows 7 and some routes/scenarios run at 90 FPS. Improving on that isn't going to improve the experience.
So much depends on settings, of course. The key issue is running complex routes and complex scenarios where you may still get above 50 FPS but resources expire through exceeding the available memory and the game dies. There is really no need to concern oneself with frame rates.
The first thing I would suggest to Aussiebob is to turn settings down low and work up gently. The fancy "3D" weather uses the most resources even on routes that don't use it and I cannot run the game for long with it turned on. I have tuned down a few other settings too. Its a case of finding the right balance.
