I also run Windows 7 64 bit Professional and not only does TS2016 run perfectly but it also powers my home studio that I use to produce Professional instrumental music. Why would I want Windows 10?

Re: Waste of money for me.
There is very little in Windows 10 to make a Windows 7 user want to change. A good deal of the improvements seen by some can be attributed to having a *clean* system, something a nice fresh install of Windows 7 would bring.

Well - if it ain't broke don't fix it, as is often said.
But a 32bit install on a PC that should have a 64bit version of windows is clearly broken - half of RAM in the machine is currently not even usable!
And personally, from my point of view, for a fresh install of a system I see no reason not to chose for Win10.
Still, Win7 is still perfectly fine, and much preferable over Win8 - and wether or not you'll see a difference in performance depends on many factors, such as how fast your PC is in the first place.
Either way the upgrade to a 64bit windows is the priority, I expect performance to improve from that, for having a much better utilization of system RAM.
I don't know if an upgrade can go from a 32bit windows to 64bit windows, or if a clean install is required for that - I expect that a clean install will result in a cleaner system, even if it would be possible to upgrade.

Absolutely Tim---a good (and expensive) solicitor could make a cracking case of "not fit for purpose" around Bob's machine.tnleeuw01 wrote:But a 32bit install on a PC that should have a 64bit version of windows is clearly broken - half of RAM in the machine is currently not even usable!
Agreed, but when Bob bought the machine you couldn't get Win 10...it's a bit of an on-going saga is this onetnleeuw01 wrote:And personally, from my point of view, for a fresh install of a system I see no reason not to chose for Win10.
You can't...you have to upgrade on a version to version basis, so Bob's 32 bit Win 7 would have to be upgraded to 32 bit Win 10, then verified with the MS server, and then a clean install of the 64 bit version undertaken--http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... ab312caf74tnleeuw01 wrote:I don't know if an upgrade can go from a 32bit windows to 64bit windows, or if a clean install is required for that
Probably much easier to just get a 64 bit key to start with, as has been pointed out earlier that is a very simple phone call/e-mail/IM process. MS.aus may work differently to MS.uk but every time I've needed to deal with such matters I've found the guys and/or girls on the other end of the phone to be damn good at what they do, no messing about with sales pitches etc and straight to getting the customer sorted---of course a lot would depend on whether said customer actually knows what they want and whether it's available.
Not really Bob's job to do though, even if he is capable, if it can be undeniably proven that he ordered (and paid for) a 64 bit OS.

Re: Waste of money for me.
I kind of figured that you can't upgrade easily and would have to do a clean install at some point.
I can also see it getting messy quickly.
Man computers really do a bad job of hiding their technical details when you think about it. You have to know about all these things like 32 bits, 64 bits, etc - and you can't just get "Windows" and have the OS itself work out how it should best be installed.
Geez what a cr** if you think about it from the perspective of an outsider.
I remember when RAM was counted in Kb, 16 bits was the bees knees, and 32 bits was the realm of mind-boggling supercomputers.
Couldn't imagine back in those days, that any game could actually look anything like it's box-art.
Now the box art looks better than in those days, and you expect the game to look at least as good.
But has it gotten any simpler? No, not really!
Sorry for my off-topic ramblings...

Re: Waste of money for me.
I have several boxed retail copies of Windows 7 pro and home and the supplied key works on both the 32 and 64bit versions.
