What is the Triangle at Gospel Oak?

It is not like that in real life.

Peter
Well, bear in mind that's a schematic diagram and not a scale map, this is what the area looks like in real life, certainly lots of different lines in similar directions to the schematic diagram.

For those wondering about the Class 378, the Twitch Preview said that the 378 that comes with the route is the same as the stand alone version and is being updated to add a few new features to it including the ability to change between power sources. Basically put, the 378 is in the same folder structure as the stand alone version. No need to swap any stock because any scenario that uses the 378 is using the same 378. If that makes sense.
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Definitely.

It's about time they started doing it that way instead of making multiple copies for each DLC they package it with.

So presumably those who purchased the Class 378 Pack standalone will also benefit from the upgraded functionality.

I like the short commuter style route and driving EMU's and DMU's so this is right up my street. Plus my house will be modelled for the first time :)

This is right up my street - literally, I live in West Hampstead - and I can't wait, it looks superb.

Hi
I have just had a look at the London Overground map for Gospel Oak, and there is no triangle there, just the main North London Line and the line from Gospel Oak to Barking via Leyton Midland( that shows you how old I am,can also remember trolley buses going under the bridge there)

I have just blown the map up and there is a line at a lower level that makes it look like a triangle it actually tunnels under the North London Line.

The line that branches of the line from Barking just before Gospel Oak connects to the Midland Mainline (in the Google Earth view posted above, you can see it go into a tunnel, then join the MML, which is the line towards the bottom of the map. Neither are highlighted). Currently it goes north (i.e. from Barking to Bedford, as it were), but there used to be a connection south too - until the 1980s, Kentish Town was the western terminus of the Barking service, and before that there were St. Pancras to Tilbury boat trains.

A quick question on the electrification
Where the map shows third and forth rail, is there dual electrification on these parts (i.e. Third rail and OHLE) or is each section just singly powered as shown in the map?
The 378's run of the outer "3rd" Rail and the LUL units used both the 4th and 3rd Rails for their power circuits.. the same as from Queens Park to Harrow on the Overground/ Bakerloo.
The section between Richmond and Gunnersbury is shared between National Rail and London Transport services.

Peter
Indeed it is.. However, the 378 Still only uses the Outer 3rd Rail, were as LUL uses the 3rd and 4th... so No power changing is required. Just DC/AC change as normal.

I feel the same way. DTG should've updated the old Amtrak F40PH and ICE3 to higher standards in the new route versions, the standalone versions are outdated.

Hi
As far as I can remember the switch from 3rd rail to overhead used to be at South Acton, but that was when I lived London over 12 years ago now.

I can actually remember the old LNWR Oerliekon units which were still in service during the 1950's, before the 501 units were introduced.

Also in the 1950's London Transport Underground, used to run a Single Car electric unit between Acton Town and South Acton

Yes that's the single car that I remember,I had a Great Aunt who lived at South Acton and we used that train to get there,my Aunts son,was on The Chief Civil Engineering staff, and he was on the team that upgraded the Great Western Main Line in readiness for the HST's entering service.

My question was because DTG drew it as a Triangle instead of connecting it to the BED-PAN Line at Kentish Town.
