Narrow Gauge tender engines.

Post by tjm20000 »

Why is it that there's like narrow gauge tank engines, coaches and freight cars, but no tender engines like Prince? If there were at least Prince i'd be ok (cause that's Duke's and Bertram's basis'.).

Kind Regards, Trevor

Nobody has decided to model one and publish it, as simply as I can put it.

However, Chris Barnes has a copy of Kevin Martin's Prince that he's working on the engine scripting for.
We may see that one released eventually but at the moment Chris has got his plate full with locos for JustTrains and SteamSoundsSupreme

Also there are actually not that many narrow gauge loco's with tenders from Europe ( different in USA ). I suspect that for many places the issue was always coal rather than water and a truck full of coal was all that was required. Many narrow gauge locos are also quite hard to fill with coal on the move. If you look at videos on Utube you will see that often adding coal to the firbox requires standing outside the loco - possibly because the firebox door is often very low down and small ? There are certainly pictures of quarry hunslets witha truck full of coal behind them working in the slate quarries of wales.

I think that part of the charm of UK narrow gauge is the tank engine to be honest.

If you're prepared to consider US stock, there's the Durango & Silverton (3ft gauge) Mikado.

And there are two Britkits 3ft gauge Shays (Types A & B), recently released. Though you might quibble about these having tenders in the conventional sense, they are certainly not tank engines.

Kind regards,
