Re: JT BR Standard 5MT - OUT NOW
When I had an experience day on 73129 at Butterley the water feed valve was turned fully on and the steam valve adjusted until the injector sang. It was definitely not a matter of opening both fully. The live steam injector was very powerful and although I found it difficult to hear the injector it was easy enough to know when you had it right because the level in the sight glass went up quite quickly.

Would a save game file, which I have, be useful?
The scenario fixes weren't in the initla update.

Re: JT BR Standard 5MT - OUT NOW
I bought the machine yesterday, but I didn't install it yet - I'll wait for the 2nd round of updates before downloading and installing!
Plenty of other steaming stuff to fiddle around with still
Looking forward to driving around with the engine in near future!

Re: JT BR Standard 5MT - OUT NOW
Morning all,
As I am taking today off, I will review how long it would take to update the injectors on the 5MT and then decide whether it is feasible to do at this stage. At the very least, the script, audio and input mappers will all need to be changed, and the manual would need to be updated. After today, unless there is a bug that needs fixing, I will be moving on from the 5MT, as I can't afford to keep tweaking this and that to satisfy everyone's demands whilst on the search for a job unfortunately, and I need to move onto other projects.
Kind regards,
Chris
Thank you for your information, Keith. I have been having another look at BR standard injectors being used in the videos that I have found, and they seem to confirm what you say.Rockdoc2174 wrote:When I had an experience day on 73129 at Butterley the water feed valve was turned fully on and the steam valve adjusted until the injector sang. Scenario Cornwall Bound Part 1 on the Bristol to Exeter route when you arrive at Taunton you have nearly an hour to wait before you can depart. Is this right ?

Got to agree with you there bigmull and I love the AI fireman and sorely miss him on the other steamers! I was just wondering if there was any news of a patch for this loco yet as there was some mention about a week ago?

Re: JT BR Standard 5MT - OUT NOW
We're just waiting on a fairly slow process of updating all 6 loco models, 6 cab models and 40 individual tender models, which is taking longer than it normally would because the modeller had to unexpectedly change to the latest version of 3DS Max, which means redoing the materials for all the files. What was already quite a big undertaking is now a massive one. The models need to be changed for the water scoop functionality, which currently is only controlled by the keyboard, plus the odd fix. Then the update will be compiled into a build and will need to be tested again before being put out to the public.sundog wrote:I was just wondering if there was any news of a patch for this loco yet as there was some mention about a week ago?
The other aspects of the update are complete (subject to testing) and are listed below:
1. Water scoop functionality with associated effects, as has been shown on the JT Fb page.
2. Injector simulation rewrite in an effort to improve the realism of their operation. This has therefore required an ActivFireman major rewrite so that it controls the injectors correctly. I wouldn't normally go to such lengths to make a change like that, but I figured that it was worthy of my time as I can then just transfer the new stuff to the future locos anyway.
3. Performance characteristics significantly improved, reducing the power at top-end speeds, therefore making it a more challenging drive.
4. Audio overhaul - all chuff sounds have had the volume boosted at the source .wav level as high as I could get them to go without introducing distortion, as have the whistles. Drain . volume has been decreased to try and prevent user discomfort. The volume levels of all of the sounds in general has been totally rebalanced at the advice of several users, so that the chuffing is no longer drowned out by the sound of the fire, stoking and injectors in the cabview.
Kind regards,
Chris

Re: JT BR Standard 5MT - OUT NOW
Wow Chris! Thank you for that very comprehensive answer. In my opinion these changes would make JT's 5MT the finest locomotive available bar none, and it's already superb! I shall very much look forward to this patch whilst continuing to run a pretty damned good loco anyway. Thanks very much to the whole team for putting so much effort into this pack.

Re: JT BR Standard 5MT - OUT NOW
Thanks for the status update - and thanks for all the trouble and effort you guys are going into for making this loco really great and fantastic!
I am glad to have bought it, now if only it didn't have so much other outstanding steam engines to compete with right at this very moment!

Re: JT BR Standard 5MT - OUT NOW
I was doing 91mph on the ECML London to Peterborough route. I just sat there with the auto fireman shoveling the coal and the boiler filling. The fireman would of got a good sweat up as he was virtually shoveling all the time to maintain 50% fire mass. I was marginally using more water than what could be supplied to the boiler at this speed.

I was doing 92 mph on the Edinburgh to Newcastle Line and the Fireman was coping admirably,i dont want to intrude but you do have the "Auto Fireman" in Game options disabled?
