I have to say a big congratulations to Matt Peddlesden and his fellow presenter for being able to keep up so much enthusiasm when trying to look exited about how the font has been changed from grey to blue, one or two of the buttons have moved and the fact you'll get stars now to indicate you've completed an Academy scenario. Bring on the 17th, I can hardly contain my excitement :o

I think this link will work. If it does it'll take you to the recorded Twitch Stream

Yeah, those changes seem pretty unexciting, but at least they're changes in the right direction and the improvements to 'Search' are much what I was asking for when they were looking for feedback on the 2015 menus, and the old colour scheme was also something that I recall people complaining about - so at least those changes would be in the right direction, and based on actually listening to their user base, just like they said.

Yeah, still quite an achievement in itself to be able to talk at such length about it :-P

Cheers,

Bear in mind the simulator is nearly ten years old, what do people expect, there is probably not much more which can be done? The real excitement will probably be next year with the unreal engine.

It was stated that the changes were the result of feedback which shows they are listening.

Don't forget some of the new features appear with the new route, driver assist and the water troughs etc.

We have had these yearly free improvements which is more than we've had with other simulators.

Go back to Rail Simulator or the first Railworks and then come back and state that the sim hasn't improved.

Some people are never satisfied.

Fully agree, and many of those new features such as the water troughs and driver assist for steam engines appearently have the work of VictoryWorks behind them :-)

In agreement with Peter, I think last year's overwhelming negative reaction to the upgrade was about the menu's.

I wonder if they've slipped another one of my idea's in again this year. Last year was the hidden instruction, I'm rather proud of that one.

I did suggest this year the ability to save your graphic settings for each route to save fiddling around with sliders if you go from say Oxford - Paddington to WCML Trent Valley. I've also suggested a skip button on the rating system so you are not forced to rate if you don't complete the scenario. Have to wait and see
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it ;-)

Hi
Last year I did mention that maybe to entice more people to upgrade from TS 2014 to 2015,they should include a new route,as last year all the routes they included I had already bought, this year they have included a new route, the 1950's steam era route + at least 1 new locomotive the Grange

Not knocking but had to have a laugh. Were there not water troughs in the original MSTS Carlisle route, back in the days of steam computers.

And the BR155 which I am looking forward to, plus having ice and snow on rolling stock, that's been on the wish list for years!

Yes, these were, and I haven't forgotten about them!

But in those days, there were no turntables, and even fewer people around town, and passengers didn't move in and out of voids, and steam cabs were totally useless.... :-)

Looking forward to the BR155 too, and the ice on it's front is looking more realistic than that on the BR120...
But of course you can add ice and snow to any model :)

BeeKay's steamers also have iced variants.

Has anything new been announced for the route editor? We've done well in the last few upgrades, I'd like to see is for particles to be lit by light sources such as firebox glow

I managed this with the sphere of light tool in MSTS, Always liked tearing along after dark with the glow from the firebox catching the smoke, Also it would be good to have whistleboards linked to the track that trigger a.i loco's to whistle to add a bit of atmosphere to routes

What I'd like to see, and so far haven't seen any mention of it, is a key press (or combination thereof)
to close down those in-game message boxes.

Doesn't the Escape key do that Dave? (I'm only asking as I'm not near the PC)

Does anyone know if the version of shearman hill that comes with this rout is the same as already released, or enhanced in some way.

It just seems slightly odd to releasing a route that has already been released in a core update

No, it never has. I remember suggesting that functionality several years ago but it was never implemented, sadly.
