Does this mean it has the useless brakes of their voyager?

You have got a good point there the Voyager brakes were terrible to be honest until a fix was released on here.

Yes, but as a lot would say to DTG, after all of this time there really should have been a patch or updated installer from the vendor.

Many people did ask for a patch, but JT were pretty adamant that the brakes were realistic and therefore a patch wasn't required, despite the fact I have to brake 2.5 miles away on full brakes just to approach at a reasonable speed!

Looks REALLY good though, shame this was released the day I packaged and sent my Midland Mainline Rush Hour Pack off for approval!

Sorry James I was a bit Tardy in responding but you will be pleased to know the last ones you sent me work perfectly (anyway, better not stray off topic lol)

From what is being said by purchasers from across the water the brakes are the same as the voyager. Any body know if the brake fix for the voyager on here can be adapted?

If you think the brakes (or anything for that matter) are wrong, please submit a support request via the Support section of the website. The people who do the more the team will be able to see if it's an issue one person has, a few people, or everyone.

I've asked before about the brakes and as has been said, the braking was based on real timings and are believed to be correct. I've asked, I've given the feedback from a previous thread on this forum, but that was the answer.

I can assure you though that any feedback received will get back to the development team for full review, and they especially like receiving good feedback too for that matter

Personally haven't decided whether to buy it or not yet. Regarding braking a train has to be able come to a complete halt within a set distance from a set speed, I would presume that this is now in the group standards, and the 2.5 miles at full strength is certainly too long. An HST is capable of stopping in 1,930 yds from 125 MPH, a comparable loco hauled formation takes 2,220 yds from 100 mph according to the brake trials held in the early days. The HST at 125 was designed to at least meet the performance of a loco hauled train from 100 mph and comfortably exceeded it ( Uusally, I am sure there are other drivers on here who have suffered the odd weak set). Of course the anti slip could also lengthen the braking distance, but the conditioning blocks on the power cars had a cleaning effect on the rail, I suspect these aren't present on a Voyager. Presumably the Voyager must at least be capable of stopping from 125 mph within 2,220 yds, I would like to think less with modern braking systems, especially as allowance has to be made for anti-slip. Incidentally this was on wet or dry rail. Haven't driven the voyager for quite a while so I can't remember what the brakes are like myself, not such a fan of drastic plastic.

Just incase anyone hasn't seen it, Squirrel posted a video yesterday, running through a scenario with the 222.

He does comment that the brakes work well, and obviously the video may give some indication as to how well they work.

Looking at GMRT2044 (http://www.rssb.co.uk/rgs/standards/GMR ... ss%204.pdf) which seems to apply to this type of train the requirement is that it should be able to stop from 125mph within 1712 meters.

Destination display controls on the "player" train are set using:

CTRL+F12
CTRL+SHIFT+F12

Looks like it may have been missed out of the manual - the team will correct that with an upcoming update once they've received the initial launch feedback via Support.

Info for those asking about the brakes:

We have conducted tests on the Class 222 Advanced model as regards brake effectiveness and its stopping distance against the specifications quoted in GK/RT0075, the official document which includes calculation tables for stopping distances used in signal placement and have confirmed that as initially supplied the brakes do allow the vehicles to stop within the specified distances, however in the up-coming service pack we have adjusted the braking effectiveness on the model slightly to reflect the fact that the Class 222 is a modern vehicle with sophisticated traction controls and can probably stop at less than the maximum distance allowed and now the train can stop in substantially less than the distances quoted for passenger trains in GK/RT0075. As a note the brake force is limited above 60mph. Once the speed drops below 60 full braking force becomes available.
