I've just competed the entire route from Blaenau to Caernarfon and I have to say that whole journey was fantastic and challenging in places but fun non the less, even just doing a bit of shunting from Boston Lodge to Portmaddog is great fun. All we need now is Linda and the rest of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland fleet.

Once again thanks again for creating this route you have done an amazing job, keep up the awesome work

Hi Chaps,

First of all please allow me to say what a superb job you've done here, with both the route and the rolling stock.

With regard to the locomotives, however, while I think they're absolutely superb, I wonder if one could switch out the sounds for the Corris no.7 locomotive. The default Black 5 is overly familiar to me, having been with the game since railsim days :)

Another thing I've noticed is the inability to shut the water feed off using the shift K command. It stays open unless I enter the f4 menu.

Once again though, the package is absolutely tremendous and I can safely say I'll be spending many an hour driving up and down the line.

Best Wishes, S.

Matt at SteamSoundsSupreme is working on some new sounds at the moment.

As for the ability to shut off water, I'm sure I can with no issue. Is it happening on one particular loco or all of them? (I presume you obviously know that the water and steam feeds are different commands and separate for each injector?)

Hi
I deliberately don't use any aliased files that I don't have the source for as I like to be able to offer a download as a complete package and avoid need for extra DLC purchases.
I did look at the Corris sounds and while I think they could be aliased, they are of a "non-standard" approach and rely on LUA scripting for a lot of their control (could be wrong but that was what I deduced having looked at the BIN & PROXYBIN files), so you amy need to alias other components as well as the normal sound files.
You are welcome to try to alias them if you can.
As mentioned above, I have been in touch with SteamSoundsSupreme to discuss the possibility of custom sounds for the Double Fairlies so am hopeful that will produce the goods! :)
We'll check out the controls as you mentioned and see if they are not working.

Hi Steve,

Would it be a relatively straightforward task to add some additional coaches with unique numbers to your vehicle asset list? I know that many Ffestiniog coaches tend to be somewhat unique but there are perhaps some more in the same class of 118 & 119 which you could clone and renumber? Also the old coaches such as 17, pretty sure that there are 2 or 3 painted the same - reason for asking is that the only way currently to create train lengths which are prototypical is to use multiple coaches with the same number which makes it impossible to use the "add to" or "drop off" instructions in scenarios.........not in any way a complaint, just a hopeful request.

thanks,

Andy

Hi Andy
Yes, I was exploring the "multi-numbering" for coaches such as 118, 119 before release but ended up leaving it as I had problems getting the right look & feel for the numbers font text.
So in the end, created identical assets with unique numbers on them.

I do intend to get back to look at these now that the "main build" has finished (for now) :)

Another scenario ( probably the last for a while as I am busy route building ) - The Snowdonian. This is a special excursion train that they run once per year - it runs non-stop from Caernarfon to Blaenau Ffestiniog, although there are water stops of course. In the scenario the train is double-headed by Merddin Emrys and David Lloyd George hauling 10 coaches....188 minutes duration, so quite a marathon.

Just downloaded and am delving into the scenarios. What an excellent route! The attention to detail is wonderful. Well done to all involved!

It's a tough drive from Dinas to Waunfawr...!
I can see why the WHR wanted the ex-SAR Garrets. That said, even though the double Fairlies struggle on the WHR (my driving?), they are an impressive bit of kit :-) You'd think that the futuristic design might have caught on more widely - double cab, power bogies (iirc) etc... I suppose coal storage is the biggest design constraint???

The were Fairlies running in Mexico, South America, Australia, the Rocky mountains, South Asia and even in the French military in WW1. Though perhaps not used as widely as the Garratt.
I suppose you're right in that the fuel/water capacity for railways that were longer and more steeper than the FR or WHR made the Garratt a more attractive option.

Some world Fairlies:

A Garratt would be great at some point. K1 I find a more attractive Garratt than an NGG16 and probably easier to model.
But entirely dependant on what Steve, or anyone else who fancies having a go, wants to do.

I've just bought the Corris route so I though I can give the this route a run.

I went north from Porthmadog. Between Nantmor & Beddgelert I have a lot of floating trees as if part of the senary is missing.

WHR 3.jpg
I needed to drive something easy that I could see the line from

RW Tools tells me I'm missing a number of assets from the MichaelWhiteley folder.
The download I don't have is ‘Memories of Maerdy’ although I have the later version.

Would the lack of the ‘Memories of Maerdy’ route cause some of the hill side to go missing?

Thanks

Yes as no doubt many rockfaces and infills were used from Memories of Maerdy.

Thanks for the very quick reply Xguerra :)

I might put this route to one side or delete it.
Even in the sale Memories of Maerdy is another £12.59 for a route I won't run :(
