Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
Interesting train to drive, ran the first scenario twice and twice it has failed, first time the brakes would not release after slowing for a 30mph section and second time I derailed on a straight section of track doing 60mph on a 70mph line speed section, it was the tender that jumped the track just as I was going from inside cab view to helicopter view, so don't know if it was me or the game, but I didn't think shifting my 80kg body out of the cab would have upset the train that much
Too tired now to run the scenario again, will give it a go tomorrow and see what happens.
Great looking model, can't wait to delve into the rest of her secrets
I only see the engine in the career section, not in the standard or quick drive, never checked the free roam tho.

Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
Thanks chaps
Not sure about the derailment, can't say I had that happen or had it reported by anyone testing. I know the Woodhead track was made "bumpy" to make the electric loco give a bumpy ride (wrong way round of doing it really!) so maybe that was a factor.
I've had a couple of people ask about the engine brake, so I'll clear that up now. The engine brake works independently only when the train brake is applied, otherwise it follows the train brake. I'm sure on the real loco it had some kind of use (maybe to get the loco brake off first before the train brake was released?) but in TS terms because there's no brake pipe delay along the train it's not particularly useful.
If you're finding it slow to get the brakes to come off, use the Brake Quick Release (silver button below the driver's window - or the B key). This operates both the brake ejector and the brake exhauster at the same time and gives a quicker release.

Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
Hi karma99, great model and interesting to drive!
When I had the issue with the brakes, I was slowing down from60+mph to 30mph, slightly over shot the 30mph board, but as I was already at 0 pressure in both the cylinder and train pipe I released the brakes, the train pipe came back up but the cylinder stayed at 0. By this time I had ground to a halt almost at the next 75mph board, I tried the release button on the desk, I had watched your video earlier in the week and remembered that, the train pipe had pressure and the cylinder remained at 0, I tried the loco brake and it was showing the same reading. I left the loco at idle and put the reverser in neutral, brakes full on 100% and watched the drop in the train pipe until the brake was fully on, pulled the brake back to 0% and watched the rise in the train pipe reading, still no reading on the cylinder, tried the fast release and the train pipe quickly rose to it's normal reading and the cylinder still read 0. I left it for about 5 minutes or so to see if the pressure would build back up, it didn't.
I decoupled the electric loco from the back (got an error for that) that at least allowed me to move forward and then back to re-couple (another error...) the cylinder still read 0 and it took full power to move slowly when the electric loco was uncoupled. That was the point I restarted the scenario, this time I carefully watched the brake pressure and drove in such a manor that I didn't have to apply full service and I got through the scenario almost to the end when I derailed.

Thanks - anothe rpossibly daft brake question - is it more prototypical with brakes released to drive with the brake controller in release or running?

Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
Really enjoying the GT3. Great work mate!
One query though, in the first scenario, the trailing Class 76 seems to be emitting a blueish light? All around the loco as the consist moves along is a light pool of slightly blue light. Looks like it is coming from slightly overhead towards the rear of the 76. Although the pantos' are both down, I was wondering if the 'Spark' object that normally displays intermittently with the pantos' up is somehow on all the time? Could this be possible?
Anyone else noticed this behavior?
Cheers.
*EDIT* Just as an exercise I edited the Woodhead default "Class76_Body.bin" file and removed the two "SparkLight" object references from the end of the file. When running the scenario after that the mysterious blue glow was gone. So it is definitely the 'Sparks' showing constantly, even though the pantos' are down and the Class 76 is not the driven loco. What would cause that?

Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
@arabianights As with steam loco vac brakes it would be normal to move the handle to running once the brakes are released. It's less important on the GT3 as the brake exhauster uses "excess" exhaust from the turbine so you're not losing power (pressure) like you would in a steam loco. But the GT3 was built at that time of transition from steam to diesel and electric and the drivers would have been retrained steam loco drivers - hence why a lot of the controls were named/operate in a familiar way.
@JustRight Thank you. The Class 76 lights would be an oversight in the original scripting where it's not coded properly to be set as a dead loco. In their defence, they probably never expected anyone to create a consist where a dead one would be towed along!

Hey Pete,
Did you notice that there's actually a bit of a strange shadow on the tender of the GT3?
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =479152679
It looks like the roof-fan leaves a hole in the shadow which the tender casts on the ground!

That is an odd one, well spotted. It's caused by the shader for the grille on the top not stopping any light passing through.
I'll get a fix listed for it.

Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
Hello Pete,
Just bought this in the sale. Nice one but while driving the first scenario, I am having the problem that when I use the brakes in (almost) full service, the right hand brakes, as shown on the train vacuum brake indicator, do not come off and the GT3 comes to a full stop. Even then the right hand brakes stay on and I cannot continue the scenario.
Is this perhaps a bug? Please check.
Thanks,
Jos

Hi Jos,
I tried, but cannot reproduce the problem with braking which you describe.
I tried the same scenario you did, and tried braking both with keyboard and with mouse controls and had no problems with either with brake release.
What do you mean btw with "right hand brakes"? There's no right / left hand brakes; there's a dual needle to show brake pressure / brake pipe pressure (or vacuum as the case might be).
What method did you use to apply the brakes? (I didn't yet test the F4 HUD).
Did you drive in Advanced mode, or Standard mode? (I didn't check on start of the scenario which mode I was driving in)
Are you sure you're not confusing the train brake with the engine brake (dial to the right of the vacuum brake dial)? The engine brake has a separate handle, to the right of the regulator.
Met Groeten,

Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
Hallo Tim,
A bit late response, sorry for that.
What I called 'right hand brakes' is in fact the 'right hand' reading on the Train Vacuum Brake dial, which is for the Train Pipe vacuum. On a regular basis the train pipe remains at 0 and refuses to return to 21 inch like the Vacuum Chamber. Mostly I have been driving with the F4 HUD and it appears to happen when braking either in Full Service or Emergency. When I do not allow the vacuum to go all the way down to 0 inch, the brake pipe, and vacuum chamber for that matter, return to 21 inch as it should.
I don't kmow if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong. Perhaps braking using the F4 HUD is causing it.

Re: GT3 released, no announcements on FB
Dag Jos,
I've been driving the GT3 a bit again since you posted your question and haven't been able to reproduce it... Also not when driving with the F4 HUD.
I'll try again, using F4 HUD and using FullService braking.
Emergency braking - hm.... Usually after an emergency braking the train needs to be reset from the emergency brake application.
Are you sure that the turbine didn't shut down?
When shutting down the turbine (by pressing the "Stop Turbine" button on the cab's dashboard for instance) no vacuum is being generated, and the train pipe dial stays at 0.
