Not sure if it is any connection but the last two updates have caused my AVG to bring up a threat detected box. The culpir was railsim.exe. I was given the chioce to destroy or allow.
Maybe your AV settings are set to destroy first questions later.
Just a thought.

Still no 'resume last save' button on the main screen, in fact it has removed the one I had set up, now got to figure out how it was done, any one remember which files to change :o .

All the best, Richard

Not a modification or asset in the game, but the permissions applied to your RailWorks folder may be the problem. Have you Steam, and thus the game, installed in C:\Program Files (x86)?

Yes I have had the same with AVG. You can make an exception for the railsim.exe in AVG. The panel that comes up warning you of the threat has that option in it. I'm running AVG Free 2015.

Yes I do - but I don't know what the permissions should be for the folder.

Thanks

You probably wouldn't be able to change them due to the permissions on a 'protected system folder' :o

Windows views 'Program Files' as a repository for the files a program needs to run--not what it works on, but the actual program. Accordingly it can block changes to those files...great idea as it prevents unwanted or unsolicited changes to *essential* files but the software industry took the view that it'd be a great place to dump everything. Under XP this wasn't a huge problem, as most home users (who didn't know better) were running with Administrative rights. Now we have the 2 tier approach to UAC with Windows 7 and newer it does become more of an issue.

I've been banging on about this for longer than the game has been around but it's now accepted that getting Steam, and thus the game, out of that protected area is "a good thing", one officially endorsed by Steam and very easy to do.... https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -YUBN-8129 though I'd recommend a copy and paste rather than a cut and paste of your steamapps folder so you retain a backup copy of your game files.

Had it happen today with AVG. Just click on the allow button and it will ask you if you want to make an exception for railsim.exe
