I really would strongly recommend you get it out of there. Windows treats folders and files in that location as being 'program' files; the kind of files that a program needs in order to run, not files that are read/edited/manipulated by the program. Think along the lines of files you work on with Office, none of which live in the Office folders but out of that protected areas.

Moving Steam is very easy, https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -YUBN-8129 though I'd suggest that rather than cutting or deleting TS files you simply copy them to the new location.

There's no guarantee it'll solve the issue straight off but it'll rule out the possibility of Windows 'getting in the way", and certainly make any subsequent tinkering less fraught.

Hi,
Do you think a simple verify the integrity of game cache from the Steam page would solve the problem if any files are missing this should replace them ?

If it was just a case of missing files Pete, then yes--a verify would sort it. However, the .ap archives have the right properties so it's unlikely that they're incomplete.

Hi Gary,
Yes I catch your drift, thanks for correcting me.

Pete.

Tazman
In your first post you mention that you extracted the .ap files with 7-zip.
Where are those files now?
Are they still present?
Did you subsequently delete them?
Is it possible they may be interacting with your latest download of the .ap files?
Can you confirm that you have cleared the "blueprint" cache ie deleting blueprints.pak files from the Assets folder?

I second Gary's recommendation to move TS2015 out of the ProgramFiles(x86) folder.

Hi,
Sorry if it seems a daft question but if you look on your Steam page does it show that this route is installed and also ticked.
I have the same route and had no probs at all with the installation, but I have got TS 2015 installed on its own drive with nothing else, not suggesting that this is the prob but I thought that I would just mention it.
Also to show all the scenery assets I found that I have to set the scenery density to max in the TS settings page.

Regards,
Pete.

GPTech

Sorry for the delay in replying its because of my work hours.

I have moved the installation to c:\program files and reloaded TS but the route still does not in the Career section.

No need at all to apologise, I too work stupid hours

OK, moving the game hasn't worked which does make all my posts seem like so much hot air but let's be positive---you're no worse off and now certainly be in a better position to *fix* things without Windows itself being influential. :)

TS can/should be able to *see* the contents of .ap archives 'on the fly', if you need to extract the contents in order for the game to recognise them (and as an aside, as the extracted files all work OK it rules out the possibility of an incomplete download---another plus!!) then that points to something preventing the archives being accessed fully.

For the sake of completeness, does the route show in the 'Build' menus?
I don't expect it will, but it only takes a few minutes to check.

Is your Windows User Account one with Administrative privilages? --- your answer really does effect the way we look at the issue so if you can get back with that (quickly this time!! :D ) we can move on.....and besides, I'm off to bed having just finished a night shift!

EDIT: Putting Steam in Program Files is no good---that's still a protected area, and is only named sans the (x86) bit to show it's for 64bit programs. In truth 32bit apps will work from it, as will 64bit apps work in the (x86) sibling--it's just a way to logically split apart 32 and 64 bit programs and has no influence on how they work.

You should be looking to move Steam to somewhere that makes sense to you (never forget what the 'P' in PC stands for) but as examples 'C:\Games , 'C:\Train Games', 'C:\where that bloke on the internet says I should put stuff' will all work (though the last one is a bit silly as a folder name of that length eats up too many characters) so spend 5 minutes devising a folder structure you're happy with.

Hi Tazman
When you finally get your problem solved could post what you did so we can all learn something from this.

Pete.

I have just taken a backup of the assets and content folders and doing a verify cache it will take a while to complete.

Well I got TS to do a verification and it redownloaded all the routes and assets completely afresh but the route still is not appearing in the list.

Hve you moved the Steam installation out of C:\Program Files?....if not you're in the same position as when you started.
