I know The latest IOW route version has been out for a while, now, but I've gotten into it in a big way, lately, just to see what it's really like, as I haven't really given it a lot of attention at all, since it first came out. I dunno why not, but I just said to myself, that "It's just another version of IOW", but having nearly worn myself out, plating the original version from Railworks, or what it used to be called, and whatever else, in between, I was really getting bored with it, but decided, anyway.

After all, it was a modern version, and I had yet to see HOW modern ! I ran a scenerio from Ryde Saint Johns, to a couple of dead-ends on the line, and, was on my way back to Ryde Saint Johns, via Smallbrook Jctn, where I had to stop at a signal, but came a cropper, and the game ended for me, when the points , which should have changed automatically, didn't do that, so moved forward a bit, and it still didn't change, so I tried changing them manually, and it appeared to work, as I confirmed the blades HAS, in fact, shifted. BUT, I didn't check that the points on the OTHER side of the crossover, has changed, also. They hadn't changed, and this caused the derailment.

I gave up for the night, but not before I wanted to see what others thought of this version of IOW. I'e seen both points change together, for TS2015 routes, so, how do you get then them to do that ? Is it that both points change NOW in TS2015and not in older versions ? That's all I can think of, at the moment. Anyway, this version of IOW is really good, and I've got plans for a few scenerios, in coming months, if I can do it. The new layout for this version of IOW is as good as it gets, and well thought-out. It certainly beats the old versions by a long shot. The only thing I found difficult in some ways, was part of the route, coming back to Freshwater, where the line was almost identical to a roller-coaster, in some ways, as it followed a lot of hills, and made driving slightly difficult, but I did it, before I got derailed, and had a bit of fun. Does anyone happen to know who wrote this version, so I can try asking him about the points problem ?

Hi Jim, if you change a point manually only that point changes, it's never worked that the second point in a crossover has automatically changed with manual switching.
The only time both points change together is when the game's dispatcher sets a path in scenarios.

Is it this version you're running?

Very true Trev, but from Jims description mentioning Freshwater it suggests that it's the pre-butchering days of the islands rail network.

Hey, well...Reading what you've writen above -This "version" - are you trying to say something I'm a little confused over, to begin with - well, do you possibly mean a certain version of IOW, with a green-coloured map in the shape of the Isle of Wight, which has a rough diagram of the routes which the rails take ? I'm not sure of the version it is, but if it's the one I have, and was talking about, originally, it's much betterr, I think, because of the routes the lines take, but, I think it's spoilt in some ways, with the route it takes with the tracks in such a "roller-coaster fashion. It just could be slightly unrealistic in some ways, but still possible, though.

I just wish I was able to make it a bit easier with the crossover, so I could get back to Smallbrook Quickly, but it's still a little extra work to look over the lines with the 2-D map, but I'll try it later on tonight and see if I can't get it right this time. I do have it running in a laid-out scenario, so the points (both on a single crossover) should work, and I setup the scenario mself, and it performed well at everything but this particular crossover, so it might pay to have a look-see at it and see if I might be able to find something amiss. Will tell you later on, if I can possibly do so.

If your referring to the IOW-Metro then yes I didn't notice (forgot to test the Freshwater-Totland Bay section) I was off course by a few hundred meters by this point and some how ended up being a 1-20 gradient making it impossible other than EMU's to get up there, it was meant to be a 1-40 gradient and it's going to be fixed in an upcoming patch, Since the V1.3 which was posted on here, I've updated it to V1.3.4 which can be found here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =400864924

Which Cross Overs/Points are you referring to so I can take a closer look at them? No one else has reported this issue though...

As for the Totland-Bay section, I came across this document deep in the IOW Archives online (trying for the life of me to re-find) mentioning money was offered to the railway by a hotelier to extend to Totland Bay Pier, so really, no, it had no physical being in the world other than what was on this paper, it was never built due to the Freshwater line not making a profit if I recall. If I can find it out, I will post a link to it, there was never any drawings or plans of the route from Freshwater, though I would of thought it may of followed closely to the river rather than around a top of a hill making more of a direct straight on line.

The IOW Metro is being integrated in to my other route called SHIRT (South Hampshire IOW Rail Tunnel) which will see changes to the IOW's Rail, however this will be a new route and again will be on STEAM Workshop.

Oh yes and I admit I hate the part past Parkhurst towards Yarmouth where it goes up and down then curves rounf, I hate it with a passion and I have been playing about with that section.
