Certainly, but as Chris is after something to presumably remind him of when he was just a wee lad...
can someone tell me which units I would have known as a kid, going through Hinckley on the Leicester to Birmingham New St run
Just because it's been released to be applicable to Weardale it doesn't mean it's the only route you're allowed to run it on
I wasn't suggesting that in the slightest! People can drive what they want on what route they want, I was just clarifying which Craven's units would have been used on Derek's route. I was using a B1 on the Middleton in Teeside branch which would probably not have happened.

I would love to see more first generation sets modelled as they were the backbone of much of BR in the 70's and 80's (and the trains I am most interested in) but I cannot see many more being released as they seem to be a bit of niche area for enthusiasts.

When people were falling over themselves to preserve mainline diesels, DMU's were being withdrawn with little or no representation in preservation for some types. How and why a Swindon class 120 set was never preserved is astonishing.

Quite a mix!

Using a class 101 TCL wouldn't look out of place for depicting those later sets
As a small child I grew up beside the E-G line and a great many of the 3-car Dunblane services around the mid 1970s onwards were made up from a combination of 3 driving trailers as there was a shortage of trailer cars. I seem to recall the practice had ended by around 1980 - I believe there had been a transfer from the ER which alleviated the problem.

Yes they were elegant looking units. In 1984 when they were withdrawn though there was little appetite for preserving DMU's, although a small handful had been preserved.

Would love to see some Cross Country routes with suitable DMU's.

Well we have two of the cars from this 105 formation https://www.flickr.com/photos/skiddaw_d3/11719689146/ quite an interesting hybrid that! On why a 120 was never preserved it is probably because no one thought about preserving one until it was too late.

Splitting hairs perhaps but a trailer car (59276) is preserved at the Great Central Railway,

At the risk of repeating myself, repeating myself, repeating myself....................a 124 TPU and an 80's route across the Pennines to Sheffield and perhaps onward to Hull and Leeds, would mean I would be able to die happy.............probably

Yes I agree that would be an awesome route. I was hoping Creative Rail would have made some more 1970's/1980's routes away from the ECML as they seem to be the only commercial developer interested in that period.

I would love to see Bristol to Weymouth set in the 70's with a class 120 or maybe Cardiff to Birmingham or the Central Wales line.

I too was hoping for the very same thing with the CR ECML, I emailed them and got the reply that there are no plans to extend away from it. I decided to have a bash myself at Doncaster - Sheffield and have track laid as far as Rotherham Masborough, including Aldwarke Junction, and have modelled Conisbrough and Mexborough stations. The reality is though, that I don't have much time spare and don't see this being finished for a very long while :(

Just realised how off topic this is getting! :-? .................Apologies.
