Those Grey Message Boxes.

In Windows, by using Alt+f4 it is possible to close an open window (that the focus is on).

Is it possible to assign a key (or combination of keys) that will close those grey message boxes?

I know it sounds silly, but I do get a little pee'd off having to take my hands from
the controls (in my case, the keyboard) to mouse up to close the message window.

A simple keypress would be ideal.

Oh, Dave I sooo agree with your comments - a simple press of enter/return would do.

Yup, incomprehensible that this hasn't been added yet. A constant annoyance!

My CabViewKeys utility CAN close "standard-sized" centered boxes using the numpad - key, so that's most of them killed with a single keypress. But it can't deal with the new-fangled HTML ones that can pop up anywhere...!

I have always thought about that every time I get a SPAD message.

Most such messages do go away of their own accord after a period of time but I agree they are a bit of a pain as they are right in the line of sight and of an excessive size. In my humble opinion, it is perfectly possible to create scenarios that don't display them while you are moving and that is why I don't get as irritated as some. Essential instructions would be given before departure in real life.

Has anybody considered suggesting a cancel key as an improvement for a future version of the game?

John

Somewhere in the PlayerProfile.bin is a mapped game pad control to this function. Maybe you can try to adopt it to a key binding via InputMapper.

Slightly off topic, but one of the reasons i love my wireless Xbox controller is the ability to close those dialogs with the controller. :)

The delete key closes them, but it conflicts with the emergency brake when you are on the move.

ignore my previous comment (hasn't been approved yet)
shift-delete does the trick without applying the emergency brake
