Hi
Thanks for the link to the route, what is noticeable is the lack of barges and boats on the Moselle compared to the Rhine.

Now that would be a route I would instantly pre-order….!

You could always have a Plandampf on the line :)

I just noticed on the Aerosoft website that the add-on could be compatible both with TS2015 and TS2014 (it says Along the Mosel valley (Train Simulator 2014 + Train Simulator 2015) and the front page news entry claims the same). Anybody knows if it is really so?

Why not? There in't really a huge difference between TS2014 and TS2015 if it is going to route building. Same Bugs, same missed features and so on :D

Apart from the new weather system! :D
And some scenario features such as hidden events.

Oh and BTW, not route building of course but loco building: didn't the new E10 use some TS2015 specific features that made it incompatible with TS2014? Would saving in a scenario work with TS2014 and expert-line locos like the E10?

If yes the same could in principle be the case for the new rolling stock that goes with this route - it doesn't have to be, but it could, hence it's noteworthy that route, stock and scenarios are still TS2014 compatible.

In my opinion at least :-)

(Well not that it matters to me. I only have TS2015 installed anyway! But it matters to some others :) )

Yes, E10 needs TS2015. But the route (and the 189 and 628) runs even under TS2014. Of course without the new weather system, but it runs fine. But the route looks way better with the new weather system activated and its new environment lighting.

And just for info: the track layout and signalling was built back in TS2012 (what not means that it isn't good ... the possibilities were there, even in TS2012, e.g. full correct SE, eased gradient changes (manually built with short track sections)). The route got the newest H/V signal scripts (for more realistic scenario possibilities), but it was built with a beta/first version of the signal system as it wans't released to the public audience in 2012. There are balieses in there for a possible GPS (for EBuLa systems) and FIS (passenger announcements) systems what tells with triggers where you are and what station comes next (but unfortunately both are not used until today). The tracks and catenary are high quality stuff. Tracks have normal maps on each layer (bed, top sleeper, rails and the attachment stuff) for better look and feel (yes, they are very dark colored, but that was intended because of the flickering with brighter colored tracks, what i won't to see). Catenary is a very own story. Built from hundred of single components, placed full manually over 9 months, this is something you didn't see on any route yet, and you will not see on future routes (except the new RLB SWB and possible new routes from Aerosoft) i guess, naa, i know. To many work to do with only a visible profit (not money, as there is no one who will pay for that extreme heavy work). And if someone think he can use this stuff on a freeware route, no. First because i won't it, second who tries will see why

That sounds like it has been an extremely frustrating, labour intensive job!

Thanks for the background info, it has been hinted at before, but hearing it from you I know the rumours are true about the quality of work!

I do wonder if it will be made available via Steam as well - it will be more convenient to purchase and install it that way and will give easier access to scenarios via the workshop, altough of course, the best German scenarios use rolling stock not available via the workshop anyway, so it might not matter very much in the end ;-)

Cheers,

At last germans started to make German routes. I have always wondered why DTG do not outsource development of non-UK routes to producers who know local conditions better and don't make stupid and childish faults in final products. At least common practice has been that even if DTG can make pretty good job on overall look of route all other aspects like traffic basics and signalisation have been very faulty and incompetent. So it's very welcome Aerosoft started to integrate best German producers to raise the production quality. At least screenshots are very promising and knowing Maik is involved ... yep, I have high expectations.

Same here!

I've held off buying Mannheim-Karlsruhe, because this route looks better! :D (the DTG route looks good, but a bit short and sterile)
