gptech wrote:Andy, the current core programming may not be over-stretched by current DTG loco releases, but it's been stretched for a long time when we think about game play itself. No amount of tweaking, throwing more powerful and expensive hardware at the game has removed stuttering and /or pausing at tile boundaries.
The view could be taken that whilst the more advanced, heavily scripted, goodies work fine they do so despite the core shortcomings rather than because the core supports them.
I'm afraid that any suggestion to retain the current base programming would be decried by most UKTS members.
Good points, well made Gary.

I am not not however suggesting that the current base programming be retained, what I am saying however is that unless more developers aim for the standards of the new class 40 then new core programming will be a bit of a waste, though I admit only time will prove this either way.

I think the wishes for further advanced diesels and criticism of DTG for not providing them ignore the imperative for commercial viability. Advanced models cost a lot more to produce and if they don't sell in even greater numbers than a standard offering then they can't be justified. Time will tell if Class 40 type models are profitable. If they are then we'll see more like it, if not it's likely to be a one of a kind.

No offence but the issue of commercial viability for DTG is the concern of DTG and not us customers. It is the role of customers to demand and expect the very best possible for our money. You don't see smartphone customers declaring that iPhone XYZ is feature rich enough and that Apple no longer need to improve and push the boundaries...

New loco - 25, for sure.
Not necessarily to the RR Cl 40 standard, but sufficient to represent the various 25/1, 25/2, 25/3 body side and front end appearance...

New sound pack(s) for existing models - 45 & 56...

If there's commercial appetite to revisit any single period and re-do existing / previously available stock, then it has to be 70s-80s...

The stranglehold on this period has been broken, time to populate TS with s range of great blue stock

There could be a case of 'chicken and egg' here---would improvements to the core facilitate easier implementation of the more advanced features?
Preferably the advanced goodies would be optional, there are many who find the more realistic mode of operation too difficult/complicated or even just don't want to be bothered.
