Your views on QuickDrive
I have done a lot of research on QuickDrive and AI, and asked Mike Simpson for his help, he has added a big new section to RWTools that will look at your Preload folders and enable you to review AND EDIT all your QuickDrive and AI consists.
Now you can add/change routes, dates and classes very easily.
The version is v6.0.41 dated 28 Mar 2015. There is enclosed a QD insrutional Pdf.
Have fun.

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
I like to use QD, but I would like it even more if there were more AI *at all* of any type!
Is it to late to add an option to the Poll for "just any AI at all" ?
Great that RWTools has better QD modification support now!

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
I find this post interesting as since last night I've been kicking myself after discovering how easy it is to create a Quick drive for a route that doesn't have any. I found a tutorial on Youtube explaining how to do it including adding AI traffic, I went on to create my first simple QD between Filisur and Bergen on the Albula route and very pleased with it I am too. I shall have to investigate the additions to RW tools sounds as though they will be very useful.

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
QD has the potential to auto-generate plenty of customised AI and static consists, but it's quite time consuming and fiddly to set it up and it seems that many QD scenario creators either don't bother or don't set it up correctly. I confess my QD scenarios often fail to work as expected in this regard.
One particular issue is that the Custom Consist Creator in the Scenario Editor is so slow as to be almost useless.

Personally speaking since QD was first included in the game I have run one session. I still prefer Free Roam.

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
I generally use Quickdrive as entry points to take a look at sections when I'm building a route. 5 mins to set up the QD scenario with 4 or 5 entry points, pick a loco and away you go. If I do use the 'normal' QD, it's usually when I've just bought a loco or route and going for a relaxed spin without the need of following a tight schedule on unfamiliar ground.
For disclosure, I am affiliated with a third party developer however, I do not know anything about any future releases unless I'm working on them and even then, I'd be breaking years worth of built up trust to say anything about it

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
I like using Quick Drive to 'Learn' a new route I might have in good weather.
I used to use Free Roam more but it's unpredictable and will change points in front of you without warning.
Free roam is handy if you wish to explore places the QD does not go.

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
As a newcomer to TS2015 and railway simulation in general I find QD a good way of familiarising myself with locos and routes without having also to accede to the demands of a timetabled scenario. Also being able to choose weather, season and time is great so I can see the variety of options available in future scenario creation. It would be good though if there was some AI activity to give it a bit more spice. Good to read I can create my own QD scenarios for routes that don't have them, didn't know that. Still a lot to learn!

If only was the QD AI generation working as it used to be... it has been damaged since 48.9a version and it is no longer random.
Other than that, I use both Freeroam and QD, both have their "pros" and "cons"...

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
I'm sure it's been broken even longer than that which is annoying as I had created an awesome QD scenario for the ECML where you had the chance of getting held and it now isn't random anymore.felix47 wrote:If only was the QD AI generation working as it used to be... it has been damaged since 48.9a version and it is no longer random.

It would be interesting that someone will report to DTG (if it has not been reported already).secludedsfx wrote:'m sure it's been broken even longer than that which is annoying as I had created an awesome QD scenario for the ECML where you had the chance of getting held and it now isn't random anymore.

Re: Your views on QuickDrive
It is bothersome when a new route is made and the older released AI trains don't spawn on the route. I dislike some static consist placements, mainly the BNSF SD40s on Sherman Hill.
Re: Your views on QuickDrive
I use Quick drive all the time, even though my builder is currently broken. With all the projects I am making I get very little time to mess around, but it gives me the opportunity to jump in and cracked on with things I enjoy to drive quickly.
