Well done, I imagine the community will collectively salute you for this.
Just tried it out on the Creston route/ scenario Crickfield Dock to Wellham . Which uses the 156 Northern re-skin.
Without the Mod, scenario started up - opened doors - game froze. Replaced the faulty text, i.e added (-) to the value. Using RWTools open 2016 file.
Re-run no problems.

Figured I must have downloaded this route and this scenario came with it. Found the 156 wouldn't run, then shelved the route because Ive not got any other scenarios for it (The route) that is.

Now I know what I'm going to be doing to-night.

Many thanks JohnT

It wasn't until I installed the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 150/153 and 156 Pack that the problem with the Opening the doors and causing the game to crash came to happen. I tried emptying the Cache and tried different liveries, different routes and removing and creating custom quick drive combinations. Some routes as soon as you started the scenario and pressed T the game would crash, and other times you got to a few stations and then it crashed.
I removed my Class 156 from the Steam Library and readded it- which as far as I know has removed it and re-installed it. Indeed the old sounds were back on the train, thought the issue had maybe gone Tried to open the doors and bang the game crashed!

I have emailed Armstrong Powerhouse of the issue and for any advice. Either that or can we persuade them to do their own version of a Class 156!
I received a reply just now from Armstrong Powerhouse. They have by good co-incidence just updated their Sound Pack and Update log today as a fix for the unit. Downloading now with my fingers crossed!

Hi,
I don't know if the references above to Armstrong Power's sound pack for the 150/153 &156 is a bit of a red herring . As although I seem to own nearly all his offerings, this is one Ive missed. But definitely had the problem. Maybe Richard would care to enlighten us as to what his involvement with this problem entailed.
In the interim, I'll purchase his program now that the 156 can be sorted out.
I do own his 158, does that one have any bearing on the matter?

Armstrong Powerhouse have stated in their email to me, that the problem lies within the original unit that dates from 2011 and not their sound pack.

The Class 156 with the updated sound pack now works perfectly on the JT Totham route, plenty of stops to test the doors and not one crash! So I'm extremely happy with that as I do have a very soft spot for Class 156s.

Maybe we can persuade Richard to do a snazzy new Class 156 for us- he does already have the sounds!

Bear in mind that whilst the AP pack will fix the default stock it doesn't mean that all your reskins will automatically be fixed.

In light of the fix, I have updated my Northern themed reskins to incorporate it.

V1.1 of these should be available from DP Simulation over the weekend.

Thanks to Steve and anyone else involved in providing this :) ,

Hi, the reskins do still need patching but copying and pasting the relevant z value over the top works ok. As the <cPassengerDoorwayDef d:id="value"> is different for each unit, it might cause future problems if you copy and paste the whole section rather than just altering the 2 lines. :) Huge thanks for the fix though!

In my fixed version, I've also added in non-driver versions of each livery, appropriate Quick Drive consists and meta data so they show up in the loco collection properly. Note that this only affects the default included liveries and no other third-party liveries are fixed.

Brilliant work - both identifying the fix, and providing everything as a download. Many, many thanks!

I just wanted to add my thanks to sdark2 for that fix for the 156 door crashing problem,
I just completed patching 41 reskins and can look forward again to being able to enjoy one of my favourites in the game. Well Done!

Talking of fixes/patches for the 156, I notice that although the 156 being driven shows red (tail) lights to the front
as well as at the rear, an AI 156 shows white lights to the front.

I saw this yesterday playing a scenario on the Wherry lines.

So how come AI can have white lights but the player cannot?

Silly question but have you tried turning them off?

Yes Dave, I have, but that's just as unprototypical as running with reds at the front! Just wondered how AI trains managed it.

I think he meant turning the tail lights off on the leading car and turning the marker and headlights on. Don't forget the destination light too; they all have their own flick switches on the panel to the right of the driver. Works for me anyway.
