Well Done DTG!

I felt it necessary to say a thank you and well done to DTG on the Class 56 (old thread locked). Whilst it has been out for a fair while now, I had not been convinced to take the plunge as I feared that the inadequate sound set of the original wouldn't have been improved on..................I was, not for the first time wrong.
I decided to go for it in the current sale, and have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised. The overall feel of the model is better, the detailing seems crisper, and the biggest improvement comes in the sound department, which is far better than the original, so now I can drive it instead of having one of my favourite loco's resigned to AI traffic duties.
All that I need to find now is a BR Blue reskin to compliment Matt's cracking large logo and I will be a very happy chappy!

Exactly the same situation as yourself, I wasn't sure.
I admit I was tempted already, but I might have to make a purchase now.
Cheers,
Nick

Disagree.
Whilst the sounds are an improvement on what went before, they still fall massively short of the standard now to be expected. The class 56 still has the appalling default Kuju snare drum track joint sounds and poor overall quality.
Sounds have always been and are still the Achilles Heel of RSC.

The sounds are the same as the old model, just with the poorly looped turbo scream removed.

And Steam sounds supreme and Armstrong Powerhouse hope it continues this way forward.

Hmm, well, we're all waiting for this reskin, but, nothing forthcoming from our army of repainters, and certainly not from DTG, are we surprised, I wonder what this Marketplace Store is for at times, 7 repaints of 08's, 3 repaints of 31s, but, nothing for the Grid, go figure......
Cheerz. TS.

The thing that is putting me off doing the 56 in liveries such as blue is the presence of the cast arrows. A small point for some perhaps but enough to dissuade me.
As for Marketplace, DG did show some time ago, screenshots of two 56's in both versions of the original Railfreight livery. And I am pretty sure from memory, that one of these was a slightly different model also, insofar as it had recessed marker lights as applicable to 56030 to 56055.
I eagerly await these

The cast arrows are a bit of a pain, but it would fill a gap for now, I may have a crack at some stage, but my previous attempts at repaints have been less than adequate!

I too await the Railfreight livery with eagerness.

I agree that sounds are still the Achilles heel of DTG.................but the sounds are an improvement on the original which DTG could simply have left alone, I am certainly not saying that the sounds come close to anything that AP have produced, merely recognising where an effort has been made to improve on something.

Are these not child objects then Rich, I saw that Matty Wilson painted over them on his repaint of 56101, so, wasn't sure if they could be removed, or, not, and as you strive for perfection on your repaints that may dissaude you, as you suggest. We'll have to wait and see if DTG offer us anything else, they do take a long time to make their minds up with anything though.
Cheerz. Steve.

I have to say that although the sounds are without dobut better they are in no way as impressive as the locos were when they were wound up on a heavy load so this is the one class left i hope AP are working on
In regards the blue skins 56004 was painted back to blue and it was fitted with the later cabs after a crash and im pretty sure it carried cast arrows at some point so that would be correct, also with the later cab type 56056-083 were plain blue as built and 56084-134 were large logo

Sounds are a bit better but I feel the 56 is quite underpowered.
